During the polar vortex, my car had to be jumped for the first time in six years. Now the voltage meter always reads around 15 volts. Not an expert in electrics, but this says to me that the battery is going out and the alternator is working overtime. Correct?

The stock voltage gauge is not 100% accurate. Put a volt or multimeter on it and see what it really is. How old is your batter?

Sounds like your battery is tired and needs to be replaced.

It's always read a little over 12 volts. Now 15 volts.

I just thought of something. I need a new battery for the Eaton swap anyway. Which one is recommended again?

I put the bigger 750 in mine. Can't go wrong with extra battery beef in a daily.

I got the Motorcraft BXT-850 - more CCA for cold starts. The factory 650cca lasted a long time on my MM.. Great batteries.

I hope your Alt is ok, If not the DB electric ones are really good.

I looked it up. I need the BXT-58 series since it is smaller (10.03 x 7.19) and fits in the tray that is mounted on the opposite side for the Eaton swap. The problem is that it only has 540 CCA.

The Sears Gold Die Hard is an outstanding battery. Equal to or better than any Motorcraft.

Tom, your battery is 6 years old. It's time to replace it and you know it.
