well today at work I am walking out the shop (MEINIKIE) and notice a little puddle on my rear driver side tire....I noticed my axle seal gave out on me :mad2:

I have had the ONE wheel peel for quite a while now over a year sometimes both will spin and most times just one :shake: .....

car has 135k on frame..so know gonna have to replace:
both axles
axle bearings
axle seals
that will fix my problem with the leaking correct and while in there def gonna need to replace these since a known problem with thee 03 MM mine build 6-19-2003....

so what will need to be replaced to fix the one wheel peel ???
carrier rebuilt ...what does that consist of new clutches/ spider gears/???? need some advice on what parts im going to need all together to do a complete rear end rebuild on the best budget

gonna stay with 28 spline since don't have tooo much money to throw at it but want to do it CORRECT the first time and not have to do it a second time for a long time....

if some1 can give me some tips and maybe a list of parts needed to do a complete rebuild me and a co-worker are going fix this so labor is gonna be free is the main thing...

please any tips and parts needed on a budget while doing it right will be highly appricated guys please and thank you

You first need to open it up and see if the spiders are any good...if they are not just upgrade to a 31 spline set up, complete, everything new. If your spiders are good, order a cobra clutch kit and the new s spring for a 28 spline set up, all new bearings and seals because of the miles....if it was me it would get 4.10 gears and a tune along with a girdled cover. You are already doing the labor, might as well get the reward! Call Tommy at Sparta Performance, he knows what you need!

If you want to keep original style 28-spline axles with this repair job, I might recommend getting a Ford Racing Trac-Lok 28-spline limited slip diff. I bought one from Summit Racing for a little less than $200 (a couple years ago) and it's been working wonderfully in my MM so far.

I agree with Curless plus add an aftermarket differential

i already have an ford racing girdle on my car

I really want to stay 28 spline since don't have a big budget on this since happened overnight...

but want to get it done right and done the firdt time around, would hate to take back apart a year later...

but gonna do all new parts no doubt and gonna stay 29 spline since no power adders...

I look at it since gonna replace one seal might as well do both side and since doing that with our known axle problem might as well do NEW axles since already apart good prcies on dorman axles I see...n sicne the alxes are out fix the one wheel peel by rebuiling the carrier or new one...also since doing that why not have a complete rebuild bu doing a new 4.10 gears right and pinion and have a complete rear end rebuild and peace of mind right???

I concur with most of the "Comin' in Hot" list. Especially the Ford Racing 4.10 gears, Ford 31 spline axle shafts, and a solid pinion spacer (and of course, a Lidio tune to go with the gears and correct the speedometer).

I wouldn't even consider a "Cobra diff assembly". An Eaton Detroit Truetrac is a superior product, with no difficult to install preload spring, no clutches to ever wear out, service/set up, or contaminate the lube.

Don't forget that if you do swap in the 4.10's you WILL need a tuner!

I already have a sct tuner with a 93 octane tune so will need to add a 4.10 tune not worried about that

The Cobra 31-spline unit can be had for <$200, and the 31-spline axles are only slightly more expensive than the 28-spline axles.

When this happened to my '03, it quickly became obvious what needed to happen, along with the 4.10s. I couldn't be happier with the outcome.
