We already know bottled oil is the best, but has anyone ever bought the 10,000 mile oil and used it for a full 10,000 miles?
What are your results?

Amsoil has a van riding around here with over 200K miles with NO OIL CHANGES.......just filters and add oil as needed!!

I'd get an oil analysis done first. Then go by what they recommend.

Dom, how long an oil SHOULD be used for is a highly subjective topic.
Long story short, the oil change interval is not a one-size-fits-all and depends on many factors, including:
Type of engine. DI (Direct Injection) engines have problems with fuel dilution. Other engines are just known to be hard on oil, such as the infamous Chrysler 2.7L V6 and the Volkwagen 1.8T (turbo).
Type of use. Short trips in the winter will use up an oil's acid-combating additives and it will get loaded with condensation.
Type of oil. Synthetic is generally usable for longer intervals under more adverse conditions.
Amount of oil in the crankcase. Large OTR (over the road) diesel trucks regularly go 25,000 miles (in many cases more), partly due to the large amount of oil in the sump, on the order of 6-10 gallons. Ford specs the new Mustangs for 10,000 miles in part because they now have a larger sump.
There are a lot of other variables, but you get my drift. The point is, almost any oil can be used for 10,000 miles under the right conditions.
For your car and your driving style and environment, :D I'd recommend Motorcraft 5W-20 changed at 5,000 mile intervals. MC is a semi-synthetic with a larger percentage of syn than most.
Or you can use whatever oil you want and do as Jim suggested and get a UOA (used oil analysis) done at 5,000 and see what Blackstone says.
I agree with RF about the Motorcraft every 5K or so but I go with the 5-30 as that is what the engine was originally designed for. Ford just started recommending 5-20 on most of their engines for the very slight improvement it makes on MPG to keep on the good side of the CAFE standards.

Although 5W-20 was conceived as a fuel economy measure, Ford did industry-leading research to prove that 5W-20 will protect just as well as 5W-30 in *most* cases. Certainly there are uses where 5W-30 may be more appropriate, and Dom's case may be one of them, but I don't see the highways littered with cars with worn-out engines from using 5W-20.
Case in point, in May of 2012, The Massachusetts State Police switched their entire fleet to Mobil 1 0W-20, using 10,000-mile change intervals. I don't think you can get much more rigorous use than a MA Statie... :drive::burn:

Very good.
I will look up how to do an oil analysis... or where to go.
