Just an update here on the filters, no :flamer: here just some good info.
Looks like Mobil1 and K&N were a couple of the best ones.

That was an older designed Amsoil filter, but a nice article none the less. I get the Amsoil filters cheaper than the K&N, and Mobil1 units.

merc406,
I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's a good site for oil/air filtration and so much more. I've learned so much about filtration it makes me dizzy.
Nothing like FE power. I saw a '67 GT500 427, go for 250,000 on Barrett Auto Auction. That's my dream car.

gotta get that Fram off my MM now... :tantrum: Indeed...go for the Motorcraft...it's the best value for money, although WIX/NAPA Gold filters are equally good. Mobil 1, K&N and AMSOIL filters are also top-notch, but they're 3x the cost, without being 3x better.
Russ Knize's oil filter study was one of the most comprehensive ever done (in public) and as such is a very good reference...the only drawback is that it has not been updated in over 5 years. A lot of filter brands have changed hands in the interim, so take it with a grain of salt...

I recall I was going for the Motorcraft but the store was out of stock, I grabbed a Fram instead thinking it was a decent substitute. I was definitely wrong from what I've read.
My next oil change is coming up soon, I'll go ahead and pick up a motorcraft to be sure I have one in personal stock.
I just went through the same thing with my 'stang...needed to change oil that day and the one store didn't have the right Motorcraft filter...so I just put a Fram on it this weekend
