I have used it years ago on cars that did not have much use left.worked ok. I did not use cars long time just to get a little more use before scraping. If you need short time quick fix it good

Errrr... Do you know where the leak is coming from? I'm worried seeing this after having the start up issues...

The rear freeze plug hole on the drivers side cylinder head is scored and the freeze plug is weeping in one spot. I used permatex type two upon install and its not working. Was wondering what to do, feeling like Apollo Creed right now. "The Master of Disaster"

I would never use that in a vehicle that I cared for. Seen it too many times at the auction. Car dealer dope they use to get the car across the block and that's all.

Is this the MuscleMerc cooling mod (which is now leaking) which requires a Hammer to install??

Yes it is, but my passenger side is fine...

I've heard of GM using stop leak tablets to seal their freeze plugs from the factory. Just not sure what route to take at this point?

What would you guys recommend?

Either install it correctly or get another one.

Do NOT use it. It's fine if you're trying to get some more time out of a beater, but at that point the vehicle's days are numbered. You'll eventually toast the motor with it, seen it done several times.

If the freeze plug is leaking that bad and you can't pop a new one in, JB weld it. It'll hold a lot better than RTV, although it'll render the freeze plug useless.

:ugh: I'd suggest trying to not use it unless absolutely needed.

I use the Aviation gasket maker crap on freeze plugs. Comes in a nice large bottle with a brush in it. Works great at sealing them. Now I just need to go over all the other freeze plugs the guy didn't use any dressing on to fix the leaking ones/the ones that are going to leak sooner or later

Are you removing them and applying the sealant or just coating the outside seam with it?

Remove then coat the outside of new ones and hammer them in then

I've always used this on freezeout plugs...

Back in the day, we called it "oatmeal".
Stop gap fix only.

Using it in a beater to gain you a little time before replacement is needed:

Using it in a car you care about instead of fixing the problem correctly: :nono:

I have used the silver Bars Leak for aluminum (heater core) and it holds up between. Coolant flushes on my 98 GM. When. I flush it it leaks again
I flush that car about every 20- 30k miles and it has not plugged up anything. Been using it for 75k miles and I have 200k on it now.
I WOULD NOT USED IT ON MY MARAUDER FOR ANY REASON

After sleeping on it, I'm definitely not using the stop leak stuff. Been through too much with the car to try to use a patch like that, which might not even work. Stuff can be frustrating at times I guess. At least this is all happening during the winter.

Buddy at work suggested to remove the plug, clean the bore, JB weld the scoring on the bore, sand it smooth and reinstall. Seems like the best option in my case.

Way to go...I would replace the heater core in my Marauder if it went bad. Other than the GM always i always repaired a coolant leak the proper way.
