As my car is just about ready to be picked up from the painter this weekend () and a hot Florida spring and summer around the corner, who uses car covers for their Marauders? Also, what brand would ya'll recommend?

I realize that the paint will need to "cure" some more BEFORE I cover it, but just wondering so I can start figuring out what the best cover would be. I would park it in the garage at home, but most of the time I drive it to work and there is NO covered parking. :(

this is what I got and its great. held down with 4 20lb buckets and duct tape the ends of the frame so it will not move. its best to have each long end east and west so as the sun moves you will have most shade right under the tent and over the car. or you can get creative get some tarps and make a indoor tent. http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_25567_-1__?N=610345069&affcode=42&kwid=ps_cse&cid=PLA_0013794136&gclid=COHL647phbwCFYNQ7AodeEcA yw

Covercraft makes one and they will put "Marauder" on it.

I've got one but I don't know the manufacturer. It has a Godshead on the front and MARAUDER on the back. Picked it up used from "finster101" back in 2012. I think it was one of the early group buy covers.

I don't think they're available any more and mine is getting small tears in a few places. Looks a bit ratty with duct tape on it, so I'm looking for a replacement.

Mine is in pretty good shape. Don't think it was used too much before I got it. It has nylon straps front and rear to hold it snug and came with a cable and a lock to secure the cover across the undercarriage at about the mid car point.

Yup, that's the one. Unfortunately mine sits outside year-round, so it gets beat.

I had a Noah on mine for a year and it ruined the paint. The dirt went through it or got under it somehow and the wind moving the cover scratched the clear coat and etched my headlights.
If you have a garage I wouldn't bother with a cover unless you were storing it over the Winter. I might consider a dust cover and keep the garage door closed.

Mine sat under the cover from September to December and fired right up. It was clean as a whistle and ready for a car show. I suspect that there are covers and then there are covers. :P

Exactly the reason for this thread! Thanks for the input so far.

Wow, that stinks.

Do most of ya'll have the ones with a "fleece" type of liner on the inside?

I never use my car cover in windy or raining conditions. But it is great for keeping the hot California sun off of the paint and interior during the day at work. Some newscasters have claimed the interior of cars get over 140 degrees in the sun here.
I use the TECHLON type fabric. In Florida that may not work as well as it can become heavy if it rains. May be the Noah will shed the afternoon rain that can occur in Florida. It has only rained 4 times this winter at my house in CA as we are in a drought.
The TECHLON type car cover lasts me about 7 years. I have covers for 4 of my cars and have purchased them thru Auto Warehouse.

Mine is very lightweight. Probably no more than 3 pounds total and came with the carry bag that also has the Godshead emblem on it. Silverish-Gray on the outside and thin white felt on the inside. I wouldn't classify it as fleece. Have not been able to find the manufacturer name anywhere.

Here's the original group buy info from 2008 (limit of only 10 made) with the manufacturer contact info >>>>> http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=49052

Not sure if they are available anymore; but here's the info ....

I had one of the grey ones aswell lasted for many years. It was used year round outside but it eventually started to break down it left a fine white powder on car when removed. Now my California cover works and has Marauder embroiderd on it.

Noah cover is a name brand cover and many people use them with good results. I had a negative experience that is now going to cost me money to repair. Best bet is put your car in the garage if you have one.

I use one from this ebay seller http://stores.ebay.com/TheCarCover

This is the one I bought for the MM http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-Layer-Waterproof-Car-Cover-Lifetime-Manufacturer-Warranty-Fitment-Guarantee-/200753760207?pt=Motors_Car_Tru ck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AMercury%7CModel%3A Marauder%7CYear%3A2004&vxp=mtr&hash=item2ebddb47cf

It's a real nice 6-layer cover. I also bought a 5-layer for my foxbody Mustang and it's held up really well to all the snow, ice, rain and wind the past 3 months so far.

That is what I am worried about when I drive it to work. The Marauder is my primary vehicle, although I try to spread out the weeks driving with the truck and Mustang too. I think I can squeeze some space in the garage for the Marauder and Mustang to share. I'm gonna have to have a BIG garage sale, though!

Another reason to use it at work is to minimize the door ding damage.

I don't think my cover would offer much protection at all against door dings. That is why I park in the back or in spots where it is very few cars. Most of the lazy asses fight to park in the spots near the door just like at the shopping centers. I walk a little farther; but don't have to worry too much about the "dingers". My wife parks her car in a hospital lot every day and her car's side looks like someone has beaten it with a hammer .... dings galore. Too much movement in the hospital lot and it seems that the drivers are much more careless than elsewhere ..... or just more callous. :P

I'm pretty sure mine is from the same seller on ebay, although mine is the 5 layer..it's in the garage at all times..it'more of a dust and possible scratch saver if something rubs against it.

I have the Covercraft Sunbrella from autoanything. They will meet any price.
That's the only cover I have found that keeps the Florida keys sun out.
I had a Noah cover and found that it caused micro marring on my finish just putting it on and taking it off. Sent that POS back!

I originally saw the Covercraft one and another (not mentioned yet, but was pretty pricey, though). I will check it out. You know what HOT Florida sun is!:sunshine: We are not that far apart as the crow flies!:cool4:
