Back in July 2013 it took weeks of scrounging locally to find a pair of factory exhaust dampers. I wound up getting them shipped to me by a member for minimal cost.
I was looking to reduce or eliminate a drone at 2300-2800 rpm (worst into a headwind at highway speeds, especially with 4.10s causing the engine to cruise at higher rev.) and vibration when decelerating down through 4000-2500 rpm (2nd gear sprints).
My factory exhaust had the 2nd cats removed, Flow-master 40s installed, dampers removed in the process. After re-installation, the drone was attenuated, and the vibration is not as noticeable.
If you have these problems with the dampers in place, it would be interesting to hear.
If you have had the dampers removed and now have issues, it might help to re-install them.
No pics, sorry.

MM come with these???
No.....on MM's they were welded directly on the back of the OEM mufflers!!
Mine are the ones used on CV's with dual exhausts.......not many left in FORD parts inventory and hard to find in bone yards since they normally remove cats and crush other exhaust parts with the car!!
Good Luck!!

With a large case style turbo muffler that has some form of packing drone is not typically an issue. This is what the MM came from the factory with. Flowmasters are chambered so they will hum no matter what. Removing cats also has a lot to do with sound.
I agree that changing an objects mass will indeed change the vibration/harmonic, and those factory style muffler weights are probably a good item to keep. Post up the part number. I didn't keep mine, but don't need them so the lost 15 pounds? is ok too ;)
Try Magnalow or Dynomax next time you change out! Dynomax has a "VT" style muffler which is marketed as "DRONE FREE" but- I'm going with Borla Pro XS soon, supposed to be Quiet yet they are are a straight thru design.
My MM makes enough sound from the intake side. lol

Interesting info. I am definitely in the "less noise" camp and am happy with SSW cat back system. It is slightly louder than stock at 1800 RPM, but quiet at other speeds.
Yeah, those damper weights look heavy!
