Okay, so this must be one of the most basic of basic questions regarding the Marauder or any other car. Steps to changing the oil.

This will be my first oil change to the Marauder, and I've changed oil probably hundreds of times in my life time, but whenever I change oil for the first time on any vehicle that is new to me I check the instructions anyway, just be careful. So anyway, I am probably missing it, but I cannot find the general instructions for changing the oil in the Marauder anywhere. I checked the owner's manual, the factory manual, this site, and did a Google search, nothing. Maybe it is just so basic that the instructions don't exist?

Here's what I plan to do, which, as far as my experience tells me, is what to do.

1. Get the recommended oil/filter.
2. Warm the engine.
3. Make sure it is level.
4. Find the oil plug and drain it.
5. Change out the filter (put oil on the gasket, etc.)
6. Dump 6 quarts of oil in.
7. Check for leaks after done.

Question 1: Missing anything?
Question 2: Why can my dumb ass not find the steps anywhere.

Thanks,
Bill

I think you'll need closer to 7 quarts once the filter is filled up.

Nope. And you covered all the bases.

Make sure you use Motorcraft brand oil filters as they have a check valve in them.

Just ensure the gasket comes off with the existing oil filter before putting the new one on.

Hand tighten the oil filter.

Put 5 quarts in then start it. let it run for a minute or so. Shut it off then let it sit for a few then check your oil level. Add as necessary.

;)

I always use 6 qts, and i motorcraft 820s filter, if motorcraft is not available, go with purolater.

Turning the front wheels to the right makes it easier to access the filter, which IMHO is a PITA to get out once it is unscrewed. There is a deflector made after the MMs went out of production that helps with draining the oil from the filter area into a pan instead of all over the floor. I have no idea of the part number or actual name. I'm sure someone will know. Its worth the small cost. +2 on the Motorcraft filter and I prefer RP oil.

Yes, I need that deflector so I can take it with me when I get an oil change
They never clean up as well as they should
