Can the 245/55R18's be run on the front? Any problems with the anti-lock brakes or rubbing? The Nitto Motivo's I just got don't come in 245/50's.

I put the 255/55's on the back and they look great, but I think they are a tiny bit out of proportion to the front.

What size did you put on the front and back. I put 255/50r18 all the way around. Traction control light flashes so i was told to put 255/55r 18 on the rear.

Wondered the same thing after i had already purchased to stock size fronts. Not keeping with the conventunal method of putting new ones on rear.

I don't have traction control thankfully. Can't comment on that.

Yes they can. I'm running 245/55-18 up front and 285/50-18 rears.

Now, these pictures im about to post have same size up front but with 255/55-18's rear.
This will give you an idea of how your car will stand. I'm not having no issues with traction control or anything like that.

Looks really good. I wonder if Discount Tire would let me upgrade the fronts after only 50 miles...

Anyone with a Marauder have the 245/55's up front? Discount tire said they would do a swap.....But I'm a little nervous about it.

PS Those wheels on your Vic are gorgeous!

tbone, what about the 255 45 R18's for the front?

crownvic05, your car looks really sweet! ;) Those 245's really fill the front well up nicely!

I figured the 55's would fill the wheel well better.....
Just concerned about the ABS.

Well, they let you "try" the others, maybe if you put the 245 55's on and they don't work, they will let you switch...just one more time...:coolman:

Are you talking about 245/55/18 or 255/45/18..a notable difference between the two.. 245/55 are around 28.5" tall, the 255/45 are around 27" tall. The 255/55 rears are like 29" tall.

Maybe look at the 235/55/18..its a little over 28" tall..3% shorter than the rear.

and it is avail in a Motivo

I calculated the 255 45's being a little shorter than the stock 235 50's, but quite a bit wider for the front. I'll be running the 255 45 in the front and 265 50 in the rear this spring when I change my tires.

Do you mean 245/55 are 28.6" and 255/45 are 27"?
You had it backwards.

I once had 235/55-18 on my old 2000 crown vic. Didnt like it much as it wasnt wide enough.

heres the pic of the 235/55-18 on 18x9 rim and 255/55-18 on 18x10 rears.

oopps..my bad, I switched the numbers around and corrected my post. But he has a 29" tall tire in rear..a 27" tall in front might look funky and not sure about abs. I think he need to be closer to a 28" tall tire..Where I live, wider front tires don;t track well on the piss poor roads we have, rutted, semi tire grooved etc...

So thats why he should stick with 245/55-18. It will work great and look good.

RubberCtyRauder

285/50/18 are 11 inch wide
255/55/18 are 10 inch wide
235/55/18 9.25 wide
255/45/18 are 10 inch wide
245/55/18 are 9.6 wide

I like the look of a slightly skinnier tire up front.

so it's just a matter of height and if it will or not casue an issue with abs

The 245/55 I want is 1.18" taller than the 235/50.

I thought I read on here that the Marauder abs module is different than that of the CV/MGM..maybe someone can confirm.

Since you do not have T/C then we know your car can handle the factory stagger sizes and there are members on here that have all the same size tires on theirs with no T/C so they can rotate them. It leads me to believe you will be fine..Maybe it's the 04 or T/C ones that have a diff. abs module..

Tryin to help, sorry for the confusion..Just leaning on the side of caution since it can be an issue..

Just got back from having the 245/55's installed on the front. Looks great, handles great, rock solid at 80 mph. Really fills up the wheel well without lowering springs and matches the 255/55's I installed in the rear much better. No ABS light. I think I'll lower the rear suspension 1/2 to 1" as well. All in all a major WIN!

OLD thread. But would 255s cause rubbing up front? Wondering about just putting 255s all around my 98 Vic.

You know what nevermind. Judging by how my car is sitting on my current 235s and feeling how much room is up in there between them and the inside fenders I'm hoping I can get away with 245s all around.

Thing with mine is it's a 98 and I had to use spacers as I have the newer offset Mustang GT rims. I had to use spacers and don't even remember what size I used as it's been a while, though I did use what was recommended by other Vic owners at the time.
