Im looking to upgrade my sound system. I just brought 4 infinity 6x8's.
What a good sub to replace stock one without modifying?
I was looking at getting Kenwood DDX790 Head unit.... Are they good/fit?
Oh yea i also have infinity tweeters on the way.
Do I really need an aftermarket amp to power tweeters,4 6x8's, and sub?
I know very little about car audio :help:

dont know much about the stock sub, removed it almost immediately after buying car, lol

any double din will require slight modification to the dash surround to fit, not too hard, and single dins will fit as long as the right install kit is used

you could use your factory wires from your headunit to power the infinity 6x8's. or you can can power them by a seperate amp, the choice is yours.... by the way are they coaxial or component speakers?!?

I have Infinity Reference speakers (4), tweeters, Infinity Basslink, Pioneer AVIC X904BT. All installed with little or no modifications.

IIRC, the Infinity Bass Link has a write up and how to on here somewhere from years back. Folks liked it and there are no major mods needed.

if you are looking for deep bass, I recommend W7 12" JL Audio, or a 12" rockford phosgate punch T2(check out sonic electronix for this sub). All you need is 1 and then get a 1000 watt amp(I prefer JL Audio)

I use a single 10" alpine type R. I love these subs, especially the 10 in a sealed box, good for all kinds of music.

Try this website:

www.the12volt.com (http://www.the12volt.com)

I have this website bookmarked for all of my stereo ?s. It also has a calculator you can use to get the correct dimensions to make a custom sub box. Lots of good, correct info at this place...

Just this weekend I upgraded my sound system. Pioneer AVH-X1500DVD Double DIN touch screen system, Kicker 6x8's in the rear, Pyle 6.5" mid-bass woofer in the stock enclosure, and a PAC SWI-RC to keep the steering wheel controls. I used a Schoshe FDK11B wiring harness adapter, and the whole thing, all in (from Amazon) was less than $400. The Pyle sub fit almost perfectly in the stock SW enclosure, and sounds unbelievably good, even though it's an 8 Ohm speaker. I'm very, very happy with this system. I know people will say I should have held out for a bluetooth head unit, but that wasn't in the cards, and I can also use the aux input for phone functions. I also got a remote USB/Aux Input connector and put it in place of the cigarette lighter, and it was a PERFECT fit. Looks factory.

If you're looking for a fairly inexpensive way to upgrade, this is a good way to go. I'm VERY happy with the sound.

Seriously though. If you bought 4 quality 6x8's install those and ditch whatever tweets you bought. Unless you are actually installing a component set up front adding tweets is pointless.

We need to know what your expectations are and a lot of us here will be able to help you out.

IMHO 6x8 components are a must, drop in 6x8's have too much cone surface area to really recreate high frequencies, im not a fan of coaxial 6x8's either because you lose alot of quality with those *****y little capacitors they pass off as crossover filters, im switching over from component 6x8's to component 6 3/4 speakers because my subs will take care of the low end when i get around to installing them

-IVA-W505 headunit.
-Fostgate 6X8's all the way around with a 4-channel Fostgate on them.
-Fostgate 2500 pushing a custom Cadence Beastmaster 12 in the trunk.

Good clean sound but I can still flex a little bit when I want to.

Not going to say that components are a must but they are the best.

Nice. Black/Light Flint 04. I am going to port a T110D2 through the rear deck on a T1000-1bdcp or T1500-1bdcp eventually. :)

Dynamating is all that comes to mind!

Thanks Invader. Another thing that I DON'T feel is a must but it is on the to do list. Gonna have 4 times that in there before I'm done. Will Dynamat the whole car (hood to trunk) then.

I'm in the mist of that project right now. All that I can say is, it'll be worth it. I'll post some pics as I go, I've got about $3,500.00 in Alpine equipment. ( not including the subs ) And 3 bulk boxes of Dynamating. Fixing to get started laying that down tonight and tomorrow.

JL 4 channel amp running the front Infitity Kappa 6x8's and the rear channels bridged running a 10" Polk MM sub. custom box that fits in the shelf where the stock amp was. no loss of trunk space. the amp is mounted behind the sub
