Hope that you do not have bent valves or holey pistons.

Keep us posted.

they put a camera down each piston - they look fine - they are dish pistons - not flat - could be some bent valves - we will see when they pull the head

could be a cam sprocket

could be a cam sprocket

That's what I'm think for an entire head to lose compression. Almost sounds like the chain may have jumped too. Aftermarket? Stock? Miles?

I have seen the bolt come out and the chain fall off the top sprocket.

I'm sure they will find it & fix it. You will be back on the road again soon.

I wish you the best.
I have never seen a timing chain break unless a cam seizes up.

Hopefully it was just bad luck.

You are thinking about a pushrod engine. You have tensioners that could fail and guides that can wear. Its the 4v way of life.

I have worked on about 6 mod motors with broken timing chains and every single one had a seized camshaft. All marauders.

John, is the timing cover off yet?

That's 5 more than I have. My first Marauder had a chain go south because a lack of oil. Ford replaced the motor. I must have missed something, when did you return to M.M. net?

It is definitely weird for a chain to break without a cam locking up or something. I wonder if maybe the tensioner tightened up from wheel spin then grabbing traction.

was driving the car down the road when it broke - saw the broken chain - broke in between the links - maybe just a bad chain - same cams back in the car with all new valves - the car was singing today - no ill affects
