I'm thinking of places that are a nice drive to get there :D

Felton is actually not a bad idea. The Cowboy bar and Grill (http://www.feltoncowboy.com/) looks like a nice place. It is a small town on a nice drive towards Santa Cruz heading south on Highway 17. Obviously biased towards the South Bay. I would be perfectly willing to drive to the East Bay or North bay if somebody has a better idea.

Did somebody say Pismo Beach?

Chayton
01-23-2014, 01:02 PM
Not sure if this location would work for everyone, just throwing out ideas here. But I think it would be a great idea, depending on if people could make it. Sonoma raceway opens up Wednesday night drags for the season on march 5th. It would be a GREAT place to meetup, and then hit the quarter mile! only $20, run as many times as you want. Ive always wanted to have a meet here. If you havent had a chance to see what you'll run in the quarter mile, heres your chance!

edit: looking around on google maps and bay area members locations, it seems like most everybody is about an hours drive away at the most. not much longer than any of our other meets im sure. I think we should really consider this! Food is a little expensive there but BBQ is allowed in the parking lot, we could cook up some burgers and hot dogs perhaps, have each person bring something to share??

I contacted the Fabulous Fords folks... and Marauders are invited to show! All of us!

Anyone interested? April 27th, Knotts Berry Farm. I wrote to them and asked if Marauders were welcome... this was the response:

Grant,

On behalf of the Ford Car Club Council, I would be delighted to extend an invitation for you to attend our event. I am very familiar with the most recent edition of the Mercury Marauder and I've had the opportunity to see some of the original 1963 Marauders as well.

Registering for our event is simple. You can visit our website at www.fabulousfordsforever.com, where you can register for the show online by clicking the link in the announcement, or you can download a printable PDF entry form. For your convenience, I will post the link to both methods here:

Online Registration: https://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/eventReg?oeidk=a07e8jar750d288 1891&oseq=&c=&ch=

Downloadable PDF form: http://fabulousfordsforever.com/files/2014_FabulousFordsForever_Regi stration_Final.pdf

We have an all-Mercury class and we have a Special Service Vehicle class, which has a large number of your sister cars that participate. Whichever class you choose, we would welcome your group to our show.

If you have any comments or need any additional information, please let me know and I will do my best to respond.

Sincerely,

Damon Tolentino
Chairman
Ford Car Club Council

Last I heard it was Santa Cruz, Mar. 15.
Here some suggestions.
1. Meet at Canepa's Museum at 10-11. http://www.canepa.com/collection/museum_10_2/index.html
2. eat lunch on Mission Blvd., maybe Mission BBQ
3. Meet again at Natural Bridges State Park, they have a fairly big parking lot for a photo op although I'm not sure of the photo angles.
4. cruise West Cliff Drive
5. Maybe stop at the light house. Parking there can be busy, maybe at another parking lot just up the road?
6. Cruise the wharf, well, you will have a traffic jam at the end, although there is a turn around area, it could get jammed with a bunch of cars. Mid-wharf there is a bigger parking area on the east side. Maybe a photo op. I think that if you stay on the wharf less that 1/2 hour or maybe it is 1 hour. The parking is free. Also, if you don't want to eat lunch on Mission, Stagnaro's and the Riva serve food to go.
7. Cruise Beach Street by the Boardwalk and if you are inclined, park and check out the Boardwalk.

A call out to Fred, you live in that area, do you have any ideas?

These are just ideas, not a plan, I don't want this to be Rod's tour of Santa Cruz.

Gorgeous weather and great pics! Looks like you had a full set of Marauders (one of each color). Very impressive!

And we represented coast to coast. One guy came all the way from Maryland for our small simple gathering.

There is one on the FTP server, IMG_9604.jpg. Not in front of the cars, though.

I second the nomination for Rod as the West Coast Marauder President. Can we have a vote now?

Today was great. Thanks to all that came. To those that missed, you missed out!

Anthony

Rod has my vote

Great time with all of the folks, surprised at the number of MM in our area!

I can usually travel on a Saturday as long as it is not durin my boys baseball season ... In other words, July and August are perfect months for me. Find a middle ground and meet.

San Luis Obispo area is one possibility.

Thanks for the compliment, but I don't think we need a president. Anyway, we were lucky with the weather. Like I told Fred, I'm sorry we didn't get rained out.
The hardest part is picking a date, once we pick a date all you have to do is figure out where to start, where to have lunch with enough parking and where to end plus photo stops with parking. I think we were lucky to line up the cars at Natural Bridges and it was impossible to park on the Wharf.

Anyway, I could think of a couple of other trips. How about our members in San Francisco? The Golden Gate Bridge to Pacifica? Those traffic lights on the Great Highway might be fun? There is a Taco Bell on the beach in Pacifica.
How about a Livermore Loop? Start in Livermore and take Corral Hollow road over the hills and loop back over the old Altamont Road. Harry's Hoffbrau in Livermore would be a good place to meet and eat.
Thanks for the great pics.

San Luis Obispo area sounds good, Splash Cafe has some amazing clam chowder in sourdough bread bowls.

I will be at Pismo Dunes first weekend of August with my Hummer Club. 3rd annual Pismo Beach Hummer Invasion. last year we had 40+ H1s.

Just wanted to say my friend and I had a blast at this meet! Every Marauder meet I've been to has been well worth it, but this one tops all, especially since I was able to show up in my very own Marauder this time. Great to see everyone, im very much looking forward to the next time we meet again!

If I had the time I would watermark all these images, I would. Last time I posted photos on here I found my pictures being used on instagram without credit by some kid. Just something that really grinds my gears. Anyones welcome to use my pictures, as long as I receive credit. that means you, instagram boy.

The Madona Inn has a huge parking lot and they serve lunch. It's fun to try at least once. You could do a Winery Tour in Paso Robles. There are a bunch of beautiful winerys and they would be great photo ops. Avila and Pismo both have piers and great beachs. Highway 1 isn't far away and that is a great road for views of the Pacific. There are all kinds of things to do in that area. In Pismo they have a big hot rod show on Father's day weekend that draws huge crowds.

Isn't the Madona Inn the pink place? Ugh, too much pink for me! lol

If we can really start getting the kind of turnout we had this weekend, I'd be down to doing these kinds of getogethers more frequently. Let's keep the ideas flowing!
