View Full Version : 99 cobra intake questions
Are the 1999-2002 mustang cobra intake and the mercury marauder intake bolt patterns the same? If not does anyone know if the lower intake for the cobra works with the marauder engine without having to "massage" the heater coolant return tube? worried about breaking that tube.

There wasn't a 2002 Cobra.
The 99' intakes were part of a recal for lack of horse power. If you need another intake use a Mach1 or 01' Cobra.
i didnt know about the recall. i meant threw 2001 it must of slipped my mind. i was just wondering if the cobra would fit because im trying figure out a s/c using most of a mach 1 or cobra procharger kit.

You wouldn't need to change intakes to run a centri blower.
Edit, wait nevermind. Yeah you would. Different side TB.
I think you will only need an upper not a lower.
im trying to find a diagram of both of the to check bolt patterns intake placement etc. but so far nada.

Just use MM lower and Mach1 upper. The '03-'04 stuff flows a ton better than the '99-'01 stuff.
o alrighty didnt know a mach 1 upper will would bolt right up thanks for the advice

Would a Mach 1 be better than the OEM one? How much power would you gain?
i was just asking so i could procharge my car with a kit that the intake comes out the other side i dont think i would get any gains from it

MM and Mach lower are the same. MM and Mach upper have the throttle body on opposite sides of the car, otherwise they are the same and have the same bolt pattern also.
fanastic thanks massacre. you wouldnt happen to know if with that set up (mach 1 upper) will a mach 1 procharger kit bolt right up? (after i relocate the battery etc)

See, I learn something new everyday. I was curious myself if there was any performance gain. Wondering if it was something that I needed to add to my, need to get list.

99% sure it should work, since the TB is in the same place. I haven't personally fitted a Procharger to a MM myself so not 100%.

You will need a Mach throttle cable and the vacuum routing is a little different but can all be worked out. I recommend moving the battery to the trunk, or to the other side of the car like ImpalaSlayer did. This will free up the room you would need to run a pass side intake setup.
thanks for the tips everything helps.i like the idea of moving it to the trunk to free up some space and weight in the front. i might need to get some custom pipes becaus the mach 1 kits piping runs threw the right fender well if im not mistaken to meet up the intercooler. plus custom i tercooler brackets. anyone on here do that sort of thing?

Yes that is why I said to move your battery you will need that space for piping
