The horn finally stopped working. Anyone have any tips/experience?? Will mustang brushes fit?? I've never done this before. Are they even brushes???
Thnx

I've never seen "brushes" on or in a horn. The horn is usually a sealed unit. Get another and swap it out.
IIRC.... there is a horn relay, probably located in the fuse panel.

First step is to ensure that you are seeing power at the horn end of things.
Unplug the horn, hook up a test light, and "honk" the horn. Did the test light come on?
If so, the horn is shot and you can get something similar at MAC's or a generic at an auto parts store.
If not, the first place I'd look is the horn ring at the steering wheel. They are pretty easy to rebuild.
Either way, report back here.

Yes, there is a contact for the horn ring between column & steering wheel. The button can break off causing horn inop but it is rare.
As previously mentioned, replace the circuit load (horn) with test-light an cycle the circuit. If test-light comes on you know the circuit is OK & horn is shot (most common issue as it is exposed to weather & they rot).

I had a 68 Galaxie XL for many years (until it got CRUSHED :mad2:) and I had a few horn issues. The previous owner had put an aftermarket steering wheel on it. So, sometimes the cap would stick and the horn would stay on! The mechanism should be the same. IIRC, there's a couple plates in the center under the center cap of the steering wheel.
Like Martyo & MyBlackBeasts said, check the horn end first to see if there is power or not. Otherwise, the ring should be easy to get apart and fix.
I know of a nice 68 XL parts car that should have the parts you need.
