Had a customer call about his motor. My first guess is that it blew a head gasket. Water/coolant was in the TB, intake etc.
Tried to crank it with no luck it was all starter no motor noise at all
Then called back and said he attempted to pull it apart and seen that the guides were in pieces and supposedly timing jumped a tooth. So either way he said I can have the motor.
My next guess is should I sell it or rebuild it. Both my marauders run fine with the beater having 177k on her.
What's a stock rebuild on these going for. Not looking to Dump crazy money into it at all

My experience says if your gonna take the time to rebuild it build it up all forged and wait for Santa to bring the blower!

I have a turbo or two sitting around doing nothing but collecting dust.
Just 50/50 about building it up I know it'll cost. Just don't know how much it'll be

A lot depends on how much damage there is.
It might not be that salvageable anyways.

Gotcha. If I do rebuild it won't be that much of a beef block.

Nothing really major "blew up" so why wouldn't it be salvageable. Block etc is fine. Heads too

Gotcha. I was thinking 3-400 as is.
I'll have it tomorrow and give it a look over. If it's only head gasket and guides I'll replace, clean and button her back up as a back up motor or just sell as is.

If compression/leak down test comes back really good then you dodged a bullet. When these motors jump time they usually bend valves. Also if head gasket/ coolant issues, if enough coolant got into the chamber you might have bent a rod. You can't compress a liquid.

If heads are ok you've got at least 500 worth there.

If anything I'll get the heads redone with new valves etc if I keep it, same for the bottom end I'll get some new rods since they are weak in the stock motor anyway right?

Ok cool

I'd like to get it to the shop and find out what's really wrong with it so that I know as well as you would know what's the problem before I sell it to you unless you don't care and just want it as is then that'll be solely on you but PM sent

Finally got around to pulling the motor apart.
Turns out the timing guides are in tact. Motor did blow a head gasket but wasn't nothing crazy, over all the motor is in good shape. So my plans are: sell the top of the motor, keep the bottom and toss in better rods & pistons, reuse my heads off one of my marauders and be awaiting boost.

If you're selling any parts I need a set of valve covers and coil covers if you want to sell them. Let me know thanks
