This cold weather has me wondering, has anyone tried to retrofit heated seats into a non-heated seat car? Can we buy the heater elements and switches and put them on our factory seats? Is there any aftermarket supplier of heated seats?

had heaters installed a few years ago. Love them and no issues so far. Had it done at a local window tinting shop. Also had a Mustang done for the boss lady.

 Makes me happy to know it could be done. Never would have expected from a tint shop. Thought an upholsterer would do it. Guess I need to make some phone calls.
If you don't mind ... What did it run you? $$$

I'll be installing heated seats in the rear to compliment the fronts. Kits for two seats run about $100.00 not including installation.

First thing I done before I picked the marauder up:)
Heated seats (no factory switch, 300A bought in Sept 02)
Remote start (Ford code-alarm)
I was living with all that leather seating in the Northeast

Here is how you get the job done quick, cheap and sloppy.
Get a $30 heating blanket from Target, get a cigarette lighter adapter that converts to a normal plug outlet.
Plug and play. I did this a few weeks back and probably will again. The chord can be annoying, but I had the job done in minutes and you cannot see the blanket when you are sitting on it anyway.

Can the heating elements be swapped? My driver's seat heater doesn't work, but the passenger seat does...since I'm the only one that sits in the front of my MM 90% of the time, was wondering if the elements can be swapped, can it be a DIY project, and if it is feasible in going this route vs paying to have the element replaced in my seat.

I bought a $30 kit and installed it in the backseat of the Town Car. Put the switch inside the rear foldup armrest as well as a USB power port. We all can do the project ourselves. Only reason to pay someone is if you don't like keeping your money for other goodies. You can swap factory heaters but it would be easier to just put in an aftermarket one in place of the factory one and wire it into the factory harness. The heaters are a simple two wire heater. Daughter loves having a heated rear seat. The power ports in the rear come in very handy for travel.

I just don't drive my MM in the cold. :D
Now if someone comes up with an A/C mod for the seat I'm listening.

I have aftermarket seats in my car when I bought it 6 years ago. I assume the original owner had them installed when he had a sunroof installed when the car was new. The heated seats still work great.

Professor,
Whites Upholster Shop in Springfield, MO does a great job you can trust them with your car. They did a dash repair that was better than factory for me. They are on Saint Louis street near national. I had to wait two weeks to get my car in. Dealers use them.

Awesome! I'll give them a call. I need a knick in one of the seats repaired anyway. I work at MSU, so that's perfect for me.
