Well went out to start the car this morning and it turned over, started, and then immediately died.
Tried starting again and now it won't start at all, it will turn over fine but will not start and idle
I can hear the pump priming with the key in the run position but still nothing
:help: :help: I am currently at work and just want to get a list of things to try when i get home
03 SB Eaton Swapped, 80K, only recent thing done was at2525's installed about a week ago, car was running fine on saturday

Check air intake and maf, pcv hoses arent cracked or came off. Iac might be dirty.

Try holding the gas pedal slightly down when cranking...if it then starts, but won't idle by itself, the IAC is bad.
If it still won't start, look at the CEL while cranking...see if it's lit.

tried giving it some gas while cranking, no go, will turn all day but no start, ill check for codes also when i get back

When I went through the whole no start issue just like what you describe, it wound up being a bad fuel pump.
You will hear the pump fire up when you turn the key, but it won't pump because the relief valve is shot. Try pushing the pressure release valve on the fuel rail. Fuel will likely just dribble out. No pressure.

For the engine to start you need two things..... fuel and spark...... which one don't you have? If can tell us which one you don't have the problem will be easier to diagnose.

ill check for codes also when i get backI should have been more clear...I didn't mean to check for codes, although that's always a good idea, I meant to observe the check engine light as you're cranking...if it's lit, that's good. If it isn't, then you have no signal from the CKP (crank position sensor) and the PCM shuts off the injectors so the engine doesn't attempt to start.

oh oky doky, check codes and observe CEL light on start up, thanks!!!

ill get you guys some more details when i get home and really tear into it...
im leaning more towards fuel since the car started for a second or so before it shut itself off, we shall see

just got off the phone with marty and I will be doing live datalogging with my xcal-3 to check the pressure at the rails. that should help out alot

Or just push the pressure relief valve and see if it squirts out. Takes about 8 to 10 seconds, including popping the hood. :)

If there is no fuel the first thing I'd check is the switch in the trunk.

Have you tried holding the throttle half way down when you turn the key.
I had to do this a few times before I found out my COT sensor was bad.
Cold start might be needed in tune. I had this issue too with boost.

where is this pressure relief valve?? is it in the same location on an eaton swap

well its not fuel pressure related, data logged with xcal 3 and had 40psi constant pressure with about 90 when cranking, still no start
on to spark i guess.....

Drivers side fuel rail towards the front. Cap looks like a valve stem cap.

Try spraying a SMALL amount of starting fluid in the intake. If it starts to catch, spark problem is eliminated.

should i check for "dribble" while cranking???

Did you check the intake, maf plug and anything that may be disconnected?

I don't know how flammable MAF cleaner is....Get the starting fluid. Have someone crank it while you spray. DON'T use a lot.

If you press it you should get a quick spurt with the engine off. If it just dribbles then the relief valve or non return valve in the fuel pump is likely shot. It has to hold pressure.
I also changed the fuel pressure sensor on the fuel rail. It's on the passenger side towards the front of the fuel rail.

Sounds like ignition then.
Maybe a main fuse. (?) Check out the owner's manual for a diagram and the fusible links in the fuse compartment under the hood.

Well after some late night troubleshooting over the phone wit Marty and Jeff, the car is running for now, had wife crank it while I depressed the schrader valve (thanks tbone) and I got squirted in the face like a pornstar but car fired up after that.
Maybe an air bubble or something in the fuel lines??
Bought a new fuel filter since I haven't replaced it since buying the 21000 miles ago
Before I forget cracked car 4 times after it started back up again just to make sure

No particular individual , seems no matter what on this site the MAF and IAC are the usual suspects!

Air bubble? Who knows? Could be I guess. Surprised it didn't catch a little with some starting juice.
Glad you got it worked out!

Hey, with these cars getting older, parts are getting dirty, while not many know to clean them. The iac and maf are usual suspects if this" car wont start or idle " threads. :P
