Ok, you were all right again!

I've had a "flutter" in my car since I bought it. Bought 4 new Tires and had them balanced... Still had a flutter and a steering wheel shimmy at 70mph. Drove half way across country... Had them re-balanced when I arrived home, still had a steering wheel flutter. It was driving my crazy! Had them rebalanced, and still no change.

BTW, my tires guys have been the best in town for many many years, and I've used them without a single problem for 30 years plus.

Today I took it back to the same place and demanded my wheels be road force tested at 70mph.

2 of my tires were magically 1oz or more out. And one wheel needed all if the weights moved 7+ inches. Guy working on my car was instructed to take it slow and easy and wear white cotton gloves. He asked, "who the balanced these?" after all of the weights were 7 inches "off"... And I got to smile and point quietly at another worker 35 feet away 2 bays down.

Unbelievably, car is completely healed! No flutter at all. Steering wheels feels "dead" as it doesn't move even over bumps etc. Car is "settled" now... And doesn't move or fight when hitting a bump while turning.

I want to thank you all--road force test (at 70mph) is the only way to go!!!!

OK, NOW THE BIG QUESTION... WHAT TAKES THE WEIGHT GLUE OFF OF THE INSIDE OF THE WHEELS WITHOUT HURTING THE CLEAR COAT???

Balancing is difficult in so many ways. Being in this industry 10 years there are many variables that cause vibration. I too even with brand new tires have a slight front end shake or wobble that comes and goes in the DBP. Even with proper road force balancing, match mounting, etc it still comes and goes. Yes its frustrating. It sounds like your issue was balance related which is good. Easy fix. However there are other long winded threads about this vibration on these cars I have read. I am glad your fix was easy. But remember road force balancing isnt speed related, it just puts force on the tire to measure the run out of the wheel/tire assembly to help balance the assembly more accurately. HTH glad you fixed your issue. Still fighting mine.

I used diluted Simple Green and a 0000 steel wool pad. The inside of the wheels are not clearcoated.

The inside of the wheels are clear coated from the factory, if they weren't, the aluminum would oxidize, if you aluminum isn't oxidized, they are coated.

As for the glue removal, 3m emblem and adhesive remover works well.

it took 4 times to get my wheels balanced correctly. Another thing i noticed this time... the guy took his time slowly hand tightening the lugs, and set the car down on each corner very very slowly.
