its when you really start driving a newly purchased cars that you notice little issues.

right now its -3 in my area and ive noticed that sometimes when I cold start my Marauder i hear a little rattle that i believe is coming from the exhaust but i could be wrong but none the less its there and worries me. ive also notice it happening when exiting the highway and im in O/D at about 50/kh and 1500 rpm and i try to accelerate, it will start to rattle there. I tend to put her in third when the happens cause it freaks me out.

this problem also occurs in my Marquis.

Second issue is on the occasional start i can hear rumbling or buzzing sound coming from the engine. its similar to the sound the compressor makes when its levelling the rear. after about 5 or so seconds its goes away and doesnt come back until my next start.

anyone every had this happen?

First problem sounds like detonation.....

Second sounds like the air ride compressor, which you already figured out.

I dont think its the compressor because the sound is coming from the front and not the rear.

Could also be a steering pump whine in the cold.

I dont think its the compressor because the sound is coming from the front and not the rear. The RAS compressor is under the air filter box in the left front corner of the car...

*EDIT* I see Jim already said that...

:dunno: And

Lol^^^
The rattle could be a broken exhaust bracket/hanger. Look under the car and wiggle things to see if you can duplicate the sound, or see whats moving.

Fuel pump? That's the only motor in the back of the car.

Believe us or don't, but the RAS compressor IS in the front.

As RF stated the motor noise in the rear is the fuel pump.

On high mileage, thermal cycle cars have had catalytic converter honeycomb cores get loose and rattle when cold. sound like rocks in a tin can, should not cause any problems short term.

See post #10....I've seen it on 3 Marauders with OEM cats!!:(

BTW, if it is the cat(s) they should be replaced ASAP!!
