i have seen this once before on a lincoln:
the remote don't work and do believe is caused by the oem radio was replaced with an aftermarket one.. can this be true.. i do the cycle with the key till the locks go up and down and then push the remote buttons and nothing works.. it did not come with the remote so i used the one from my 2005 taurus

I doubt the Taurus remote will work. For it to work the FCC code on the back of the remotes must match.
Not caused by replacing the radio.

do you know what years that are compatible ;)
The 2005 Taurus one won't work as you've found out. You don't want to go by year as they are not consistent across models of the same year. For example our 2000 Taurus and 2003 Mountaineer use the same, and the 2001 Grand Marquis uses the same as the 2003 Marauder. You want to go by the FCC ID number. The ID on the ones I have is cwtwb1u313 they case is also grey. very dark grey, rather than true black.

I recently found out that a Fusion key with the buttons on the key will work with my 04 F150. Anyone ever tried that with the MM?

Yes that one will work, but note it is not an OEM unit, it is aftermarket. On the plus side that means that it is new so there isn't any wear on it. Considering what some people ask for used ones those seem like a pretty good deal.

Whatever remote you get needs to be compatible with the controller located in the drivers side front door.
