Are you referring to your insurance? If so, what company? I'm going with Grundy.

I am a recent Marauder owner as of January. I have had State Farm for 20+ years w my other cars. When I called to insure my MM I asked about collector status for this car as well as my 2004 Thunderbird. They had to call their collector car coordinator guy but he approved both cars.

Are there any mileage restrictions with this insurance?

What is the difference between Collector car status, than normal car insurance status, other than maybe higher premiums? I am interested, my MM is not my DD.....

I'm working on getting mine right now with 40k agreed value, the deal should be done by early next week.

I have my Marauders and the 2012 with Haggerty. There are no restrictions as long as it is not our daily drivers. It lowered our rates and gave us better coverage than Allsnake. We have the premium package and it includes towing. They will tow any car we have even if it is not insured with them. Worth looking into.

Hmmm I could get that if I parked my MM in the garage instead of the living room?

PLEASE read your fine print with haggerty.

typically with them you cannot even got out to dinner or for an ice cream and leave your car alone.
the representative on the phone acted like it was no big deal but the paperwork said different. :dunno:
with classic that would be covered, and classic was cheaper :banana2:

I'm actually glad this topic came up again because I was actually just talking to my wife about this. I got a quote from Classic last year, but due to other circumstances at the time, I didn't go forward. I wanted to re-engage my conversation with CU because I felt they had the best coverage for my needs (unlimited mileage, garage kept and a declared value).

The broad umbrella policy is fine, but my concern is how has Classic Underwriting (or Haggerty or any other Classic Car Insurance companies) fared with small claims? Let's say you are out and somebody hits you. Your car is not totaled but you need to and find a body/repair shop etc... This is hypothetical but I would like to know if anyone has gone through a process. I'd hate to sign up for CU and have something come up where they would "sorry not in your policy"

I guess what trying to say is going from a "known" insurance company (Nationwide, Progressive, Allstate, Geico, State Farm, etc..) to a lesser known company is making my wife weary. I'm sure Classic Underwriters is more than reputable when it comes to providing excellent coverage, but I'm just wondering if anyone has dealt with them on a lesser claim.

It's not the fear of not getting my declared value for my Marauder if it were to be totaled, it's the headache of working with insurance for a minor skiffle.

^^^^^ Give them a call and ask.

I've been on the fence about collectors status as well. I get a cheaper rate buy putting the MM's "In Storage" over the Winter. The advantage to collectors seems to be the agreed value if the car is totaled plus if going through the hoops getting collectors status with the State-avoiding inspections. This however give a mileage limit.

John, post a pic of your MM with the triangle sticker. If it looks cool this might weigh the decision.

I have classic on mine through safe auto. Limited miles but I don't care because I only drive the car on long road trips. It's certainly worth looking into, you can save some dough to buy more mods.

I just send a quote request in, we'll see what happens. The biggest problem I keep running into is most of them won't insure anyone under 25.

Holy crapola batman! Mine came back at 1/3 of that, with 100k/300k, $50 deductible, 25k replacement, and I'm 23. My answers were almost exactly what yours were.

EDIT: I actually just talked to them, I may not be able to do it since i'm under 25, he said they'll sometimes do 24 w/a clean record (which I have). With my birthday just over a month out, i'll probably give it a shot and see what happens.

I went with 20K just to see what price range we'd be in. I also said NO to back-up transportation as we have other cars. I was quoted like 350.yr for NJ :)
