View Full Version : Marauder "supply chain"-restore your faith in humanity!

I've been thinking about this for a while. I've seen it work, and work well, with other forums and I think it would be awesome if we could get something like it working here. It requires a bit of faith in humanity and trust in fellow Marauder owners and forum members. But, I really think it would work.
My idea is to set up a "supply chain" of sorts. The purpose of it would be to help members with moving/shipping things that aren't practical to box up and ship, such as engines, axles, large body parts, entire cars, etc. It would move from one member to the next, eventually reaching it's destination (obviously it works better when time isn't tight). Shipping large parts is difficult and almost always expensive, and the goal of the supply chain would be to save some cost and headache and help keep the Marauder family on the road without costing an arm and a leg.
The more members and resources we can get in on this, the better it will work. I could be living in some weird dream and this may never work, but I'm willing to give it a shot. So I figure a good start would be if those willing to try this out will post up what they have to offer to help the chain grow, and if they like a region or basic location. If this actually looks like it'll get off the ground we can work on something more official. In the spirit of leading the way, I'll start.
In the Wilmington/Myrtle Beach area, I have:
A pickup with an open bed
A 20' Gooseneck car trailer (kinda high for lowered cars, but it'll work)
Enough dry, secure storage for a few items to temporarily live

Love it! In Northern Cal... can help with anything here and I travel to NWest every month. I can look at anything in the NWest within a few weeks, and have dry storage for short term. I fly Swest a lot so med sized objects under 50lbs fly free with me (I brought Marauder tips home from NWest for free). Happy to meet up with LA folks or NWest folks or even Nevada Folks to move normal sized items.
I like this idea--I'd like to add actually driving the car as transport--and dropping it with another Marauder.net partner.

I'm located in Temple, TX and I'd be willing to step in between San Antonio and Dallas as a middle man if ever needed. Have an F350 dually with an 8ft bed, also have an 18ft utility trailer. As long as time isn't in a crunch it wouldn't be a problem.

I don't have much to offer truck or trailer wise, except being a short drive from Tasca. Able to pick parts up and hand off to the next link in the chain. Willing to go as far south as Newark, DE

No truck, no storage other than a huge backyard, can probably get a better rate on shipping through work...other than that I'll do what I can...:)

We live in Cochran, Georgia. South and east of Macon. I have a F150 with a foldable hard cover on the bed and a 5 X 8 trailer. I also can make room for a vehicle in my work garage. I will try and help as much as I can.

In over 20 plus years doing the car/truck hobby thing I have never been burned by a fellow enthusiast, I have always operated with a hand shake and always dealt strait up with folks. Marauder folks have been about 10 notches higher to deal with in my book. This will work if we get the Pipeline opened up and running. Faith in your fellow Marauder owner is high.....we can do this. For the record, I can also store a car or two for someone for short to mid term lengths of time..... Just remember ,the State of Tennessee allows a storage title to be applied for after 12 months of continuous storage......My shop will hold 7 cars. Come one come all! bahahahaha

That's great!^ I'm planning on bringing mine down on the car hauler so that could also help transporting if necessary.

Yeah I don't have a tow vehicle or trailer, but I live right off a 4 lane highway and my street has plenty of room to back a trailer in.

I live in North Carolina at the intersection of I40 and 64. Live on a large cul-de-sac, have an engine hoist, car dollies (4) and a large storage space underneath the house.
If anyone is passing nearby and needs a hand with repairs I can help out.

I'm in the western suburbs of Chicago. Should be able to have a truck if needed for large items. Don't mind traveling for a little ways if not busy to help out

Bumping this back to the top. I'm toying with a few ideas to make a map of those who are willing to help.
And I also have a winch on my trailer now, makes loading inop vehicles much less violent
