Iknw.theres about a dozen maybe more threads on this already.but still can't seem to find the answer to my . Questions what is the pro and.con of having 430s I have 410s I do lightweight driving on the freeway. Maybe trips.to LA from time to time. Would it be.worth swapping over I dont want. To be hurting when it's fill up time. Also what would be the rpm.difference with 410s I cruise 80 @ 2500

........Ratio
.......4.1......4.3
RPM...mph...mph
2300..67.....63
2500 73 69
2800 81 77
3100 90 86
You'd have to turn 2900 rpms or so to get 80 mph with 4.30s. Try driving with the OD off on the freeway at 3000 rpm for a while.

Well first off all unless you have 22" tires, with 4.10 gears at 80mph you are spinning closer to 2800 not 2500. I have 3.73's and at 80 I'm spinning 2500 rpm.
4.30 Pros: fast off the line - good 1/4 mile times, burnouts at 3/4 throttle
4.30 Cons: damage to trans tailshaft, and pinon seal on rear end much more likely, reduced top end. Poor highway mileage at 80mph. An upgraded driveshaft should be required with this mod as well as trans cooler.
My .02 cents.

4.30's would be awesome in the ass end. The only reason I didn't do it is that my car is a daily. I'm constantly on the freeway and road tripping the car to Vegas where setting cruise at 90 is pretty much the norm. Back when my wife daily drove an 01' Cobra it had 4.30's and she loved them. It drove great no issues at all. Even still managed 25mpg with the non-ethanol fuel using cruise at 70. I still have the 4.30's in my garage.
If my Marauder was my Toy car. 4.30's all the way.
You may or may not need the items babbage mentioned. I've never had either of those problems and one of my drives I had an excellent rabbit and maintained 100mph for almost a full hour. Everything stayed smooth as glass.

Since he has an 03 (no traction control issues to deal with), couldn't he put some smaller rear tires (like from a Mustang) to get the equivalent of a 4.30 gear to try it out first?

How do you like your 430s I plan to daily drive it I probly put 100 miles in 2 weeks that's just city driving. Its rare I take it to LA but the thought I'd there what are your.highway crusing speed I don't drive over 70 mph. And is being tuned for 430 help at all

Yes a tune for 4.30's you want that. Shift schedule etc. An MMC driveshaft or 4" dynatek is what you want if you get vibration.

I have stock size tires and 3.55's, did an rpm test yesterday via scangauge 2 and cruise control : at 70mph it was @~ 2080 rpm, at 80 mph @~2380 rpm.
Ive heard at 70mph with 4.10's its at 2400 or 2500 rpm.

I love them! Since I don't drive much on the highway either, I even thought about 4.56's. But, that probably won't be necessary since I am working towards an Eaton swap this year. So, I am already figuring that I will need wider wheels for the much wider tires for the much wider stripes! City driving is effortless. The car feels great. Hwy mpg (I usually cruise around 70-75 mph) is between 22-23. Around town, I am estimating mpg in the city is around 18.

When I went from 4.30 to 4.10 I really didn't notice all that much of a difference performance wise. I do not recall the RPMS, but I believe it was a tad over 3.000 at 80 with the auto, and stock tires.
