Hello all, I took the trip yesterday down to Maryland from Long Island Yesterday to pick up my 03 MM! Ive been browsing autotrader and Craigslist for a few months now with only a few popping up in a 300 mile radius. Last Sat I see a newly added 03 Black with 26k offered at a Chevy Dealer. Phoned the dealer, put a downpayment on the car and its now in my driveway! It appears to be stock, looking to get caught up on maintenance, not knowing the history , such as fluids. Is there anything else I should give a look at? After reading here, im seriously considering a tune and CAI. Thanks for the input, excited to see her finally here! :burnout:

Congrats on purchase!..With only 26k, not much to look at lol..Fluids , I would do and check tires, if they are original, that would make them 11years old and there are better choices out there than the BFG that came original, most members would agree. Yes, a tune from one of the vendors here and CAI wouild be a great palce to start. Give the leather a good leather cleaning and conditoner with proper products since replacement leather is not avail.

Wow. Such a young beauty you found!! That's great!!

I would suggest a tune ASAP!! It will give you the most bang for your buck and you will wonder how realize how crappy the car drives without a tune. :burnout:

Congrats!!!
If I'm looking at the right MD Chevy dealer, you have an early build # (at least a low VIN 610###).

For $55, you can get your certificate from Ford

Congratulations!
Think about the "J-mod" on the transmission when servicing it.
Also consider same size tires front/rear if you need new ones.
Mines a daily driver w/140K+ miles w/tune, JLT intake, Accufab T/B, "J-mod" and 255/45-18 tires F/R - I'll let you test drive it sometime!

Congrats :)

With such low mileage it should be a creampuff.
As others posted a tune is an absolute must at minimum, I couldn't believe the difference once I downloaded the tune. It acts like a completely different car.
It's nice to see some more Marauders on Long Island.

New fuel and air filter.

Read up on here about the problems concerning the LCM, EATC, and BCM....members on here can resolve these issues and you won't have to take out a second mortgage in doing so. (I had all of these issues taken care of and I think it cost me around $100)

Congrats on your purchase and welcome aboard!!!

Congats on your MM! Even with all the suggestions, mine would be get a rear trunk wing & a Mach 1 chin spoiler. They wake the car up and keep it from looking so plain. Also I like the staggered look, I have it on all 3 of my vehicles and when I bought my non-winged car I parked it until I got wing and chin spoiler installed.

Welcome to the bar...

Yes to the rear wing and chin spoiler as it changes the looks and further distances it from the normal CV/GMQ variety...As the others have said get a simple tune. Just had one done and should have done 2hrs after I bought it...Or just come the Louisville, Ky Meet in April and get first hand advise, knowledge and, well, won't go into the other just yet...:D

Tons of great info, thanks to all, appreciate all of the advice! I am loving the car so far. I ordered flowmaster 40's with the 2 1/2 offset input, center output. After searching the forum I see some opt for the 2 1/4 input/output. Will the ones I purchased install properly? Also, I've poured over youtube clips of the flowmaster/rear cat delete and they sound great. My only concern is I live in a quiet neighborhood and I'm on the fence with only swapping mufflers and leaving the rear cats intact.

Also, is there anyone on the air that can recommend an exhaust shop on Long Island? Thanks!

I havent been to them for a long time but American Muffler in Westbury used to do great work.

Congrats on your new MM, it looks to be a cream puff! 26K wow. Congrats. Welcome to the site.

I would suggest an SCT Device and tune, once you get all the fluids, plugs etc done and make sure she is healthy. You also want to get a rear head cooling mod. If you hot rod it at all you want that mod to save the engine from failure.

American Muffler in Westbury still there. Blackened300A uses them all the time.

Removing the rear cats won't make it that much louder...when I had mine done nobody noticed it but me. Ofcourse I just have regular Flowmasters on the car...

Site still says $45. Certificate makes for a nice office/garage wall hanging.
