Alrighty guys, i installed one of my logo lights today, under the hood. It was quite simple, as expected. I still need to add a fuse, but wire is ran out to a switch i installed right above the hood release. The 24g wire that it comes wired with is very delicate and i broke both leads after i already soldered them to bullet connections. I ended up soldering 18g wire to the 24g wires, heatshinked the connections, then soldered the bullet connections to the 18g wire...what a pain, but it was the only way i could think of doing it without it being so fragile. Here are some pictures, my phones camera is garbage, the lights are white, not blue like the camera shows. One with the hood light on, one with the hood light removed. In daylight its non-existant, these are some night shots. It looks a lot better in person, maybe someone at Louisville can get a better shot.

Nice! Got red ones to do exactly that. One of the reasons I got a new hood. Coat, polish and paint the inside and wala.

Thanks for the inspiration!!!

Thanks for the group buy BTW!

Exactly where I was planning to put one of mine. You beat me to the installation. Just been to cold up north.

My thoughts exactly! Was far to cold to get the car on jack stands even!

For the guys looking to do this, how were you thinking of mounting it? I drilled/cut a hole into the radiator cover, made the hole oval shaped so it would lay down at an angle, then used quickweld epoxy putty to hold it in place. The problem is the epoxy doesn't want to stick to the plastic cover. Any other ideas?

i would use jb weld, it sticks to just about anything

Did you sand the plastic down at all? May help the epoxy adhere to it.

I think I will ask Jerry to make me a billet angled bezel to make it work :banana2:

If the plastic cover is polyethylene, nothing will stick to it. Felt like it to me.

Personally I was thinking a center hole, 2 stove bolts and a custom bracket under the cover.

Don't really know as the entire time I've had the projectors the car has been buried in an igloo. Shoved a couple of tiki torches in the snow so the plows would realize there was a car there.

Machine an angled adapter plate with its own lock nut from the bottom side. :D

Limited360: i wish i had friends that could
Lji: will you be my friend?

Im probably going to sandwich the cover between the epoxy.

haha i didn't even see your response before i wrote mine

in all honesty it may sound a little queer, but if i go this route i will make my own mounting bracket. i don't really want to add a hole.

hey james, drive your car over and we'll whip one up :banana2:

Hmmmm I'd prefer no hole as well...

Love to but it's on jack stands... Tires said the concrete was still to cold to touch!

Whitey can you post a pic of what it looks like where you mounted it.
I like the under the hood look but after looking today I'm having second thoughts on the appearance of the light shining up.
Hmm..... Decisions decisions

Lji, here you go, pics again are crappy, and its dark out. I painted the quickweld with black paint, however i think im going to paint it a flat dark gray to match better.

Right now it aint too pretty, im going to dremmel the epoxy to a smooth surface hopefully, so it looks cleaner and not so much like its stuck there with bubble gum. The issue with a fabricated mount is the height restrictions of the hood once its closed. To get the angle of the dangle, i had to drill the radiator cover and right now the body of the light sits under the cover.....youll see it looseville.

Heres the finished product in daylight. It will give you a perspective on how much space you have to work with and the angle required http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/27/5udu5emu.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/27/9eby8e5y.jpg
