Last weekend, I competed for the second time in the annual Car Casper Custom Auto show (http://carlcasper.com/ (http://carlcasper.com/)). This show has been going for 50 years and is a part of the ISCA circuit.

http://www.theisca.com/ (http://www.theisca.com/)

This means there are professional judges and not the novices you get at a typical weekend show.

When I competed in 2008, I got Second Place.

I spent more time cleaning the Marauder and getting it to a state that it has not been in since I first detailed her 6 years ago. I cleaned just about every inch and crevice of the engine bay, interior, trunk, wheels, etc.

Naturally, I was the only Marauder, the only Mercury, and one of two 4-doors.

I was put in the Conservative Hardtop 2000-2006 class, which means all my competiton was a bunch of newer old and Chargers and Camaros with some ad-ons. It's not hard to make a new car look good.

At any rate, imagine my surprise when the Marauder won First Place.

Here are a few pics:

Finally was able to show off all the memorabilia with the recently-purchased trunk organizer.

The rest of the pics can be seen here:

Here's some pics from my local club of our other cars in the show:

Surprisingly, I met two local Marauder owners. One is alrealy registered on here and I gave the other one a card, and urged them both to come to the upcoming meet.

Also, it seems that more and more people finally know what the Marauder is vs. 6 years ago when I first showed the Marauder locally.

Just wanted to share the good news that our big 4-door held its own in competition.

As always. A real beautiful car Steve. You sure have a top notch Marauder and you earned a well deserved first place.

From seeing your car at the Louisville meets, I didn't realize it could be much cleaner.

:congrats::banana::banana: Steve on a well deserved win. Like those who have already said it surprises me that you think your car shouldn't or isn't capable of winning at these shows. I'd bet aside from the undercarriage (which I'd bet is as clean as can be reasonably expected for a used car) your car is as clean or cleaner than when it was new.

What was your score (out of?)
If you know what did the judges minus points for?

You deserve it! And I could only dream of having a fraction of the car you have.

Congrats Buddy!

Thank you, everyone.

I really wanted a good represesentation for our full-framed cars. I am sure I am not the only one tired of hearing, "What is that?" at car shows and cruises.

Hopefully, the Marauder will still be as clean at the start of the Kentucky meet.

Next time I do it in a couple of years, it would be great to have some other Marauders there. We could have a club display.

Thanks again.

That is a truly awesome accomplishment! Congrats:beer:
Thank you!

As for the tail lamps, they are P71 units. I didn't want to alter the OEM taillamps.

I had Jonstintedtails.com tint them.

Not sure he is still in business as his website seems to be down.

Any local body shop can mix up some clear gloss with enough black to tint your taillamps.
