My passport 9500 alerts "laser" on occasion during hard accel. Will continue until I let off the pedal. I've eliminated the radar detector as I use it in my other cars. I've also eliminated any voltage drop or surge with my ohm meter. Thoughts??

I had a similar problem with my v1s that was 6 years old send it in for a tune up and it was good to go.

You're approaching the speed of light and the light compresses in front of your car appearing to be a laser to the detector...

Do you have a cellphone any where near it? Try it with the phone turned off.

I do have my cell with me all the time. Interesting thought. I'll give it a try and post what happens.

How did you eliminate the voltage drop when your alternator turns off at WOT? It can be turned off in the tune, but did you? Not that I would do so, a decent detector won't be bothered by automotive fluctuations.

A laser detector is useless anyway. It is only good to alert you that you're about to get a ticket. No early warning like the old days of radar.

My last two traffic stops were by unmarked cars following behind be. The cops just laughed at my radar detector, it was a Passport 9500xi which I no longer use. Thankfully the cops were cool and just gave me warnings.

There was nothing to alert. They didn't nail me with radar they just followed behind me. One car was a Scion XB and the other a Nissan Altima. Florida has a lot of unmarks.
