Searched through several of the threads here, however most people who threw these frps codes were not able to get there car started back up. My car would start, run up the rpm, and die. This would go on for about ten minutes then on my 9th or 10th attempt the car would start right back up great. Throughout the time ive had the car sometimes when I go to start it it will start normal "almost die" then sputter back up, and run fine. Any suggestions?I will have to check the vaccum line of the rail presure sensor when I get home as the shop manual states. Thanks

Also the last time this happened I checked the fuel pressure at the rail, and had nothing even though I could hear the pump prime. So maybe just maybe fuel pump like other posts suggest? Just wondering why the code would suggest the frps.

Even though I replaced that only a few thousand miles ago im still partially concerned because it was not a genuine ford product.

P0190 is the ref voltage in the fuel rail pressure sensor circuit which is only between the fuel rail sensor and the PCM. Basically it is all in the engine wiring harness and the the big connectors under the power brake booster. The PCM is not sensing the correct voltage across the sensor circuit. Check the engine harness for chafing where it runs along the back of the engine and the entire length. If the harness is good, then unplug and re-conect the pressure sensor connector and the multilple connectors under the brake booster and see if it was a dirty or poor connections at a connector. If it still occurs, it is usually the pressure sensor that is failing. This sensor is what tells the pump how fast to run to maintain correct fuel rail pressure.

P0191 is just that the actual fuel rail pressure is indicating outside of accepted values (too high or too low) based on the voltage levels to the pump and through the sensor. Again, comon denominator is the fuel rail pressure sensor and wiring.

If the part is new, check the wiring and connectors, since the new part did not seem to solve the proplem. Although some aftermarket parts can be bad out of the box.
