View Full Version : PATS failure
If this system fails, not the key portion, what are the symptoms? Have a crank no start, seems to be power going to fuel pump in a pulse width moudulation type of signal. Also the CEL is flashing with the sound the fuel pump is making. And the PATS light is flashing very rapidly all seem to be in sync with each other. New battery, tried a new IGN switch, scan tool goes dead when the key is turned on, has full power when key is off or in Accy position. Starting to think the PATS module connected to the ignition cylinder is bad.

You might have to reprogram the key, Thats what I had to do, just sayin' , but you'll prolly hear a more knowledgable response
when the key loses its memory, does that sound like the symptoms?

Could very well be the key....I just had a PATS key for my Ranger stop working.
Engine would crank, but not start.
CEL was flashing along with 'Anti-Theft' light.
Tried one of my spare keys.....Vroom!...started right up.
Same thing with different key. Also when testing the ignition switch noticed when the key was not in the ignition but switch manually in run position the flashing was slower. that's why im leaning toward the module on the column.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh think I have to take it to FORD stealer ship!!!!
Anymore advice on talking to those guys when it comes to saving money?
