View Full Version : Marauder value in 5 years?

1Marauder

So, just an open question.

Do you think marauders will increase in value in the next five years.

They have "fallen" consistently in KBB and especially in NADA... (which we all know means only that we need rich cash buyers), but are Marauder's l;osiong true value against technology?

Will Marauders increase in value as the a "family muscle car?"

in 5 years I doubt it, they will only be a little over 15 years old at that point. In my mind you really won't know until the 25+ year mark, maybe not even till later. However, I'm one of those who does not think the Marauder will ever be a valuable collector's car.

Marauders are like wives. You plan on keeping them forever. I married mine with the new motor , transmission and ported trillogy as well a ton Of other stuff. Stainless full exhaust widened wheels cobalt guages fan operated transmission and heat exchanger systems. So if you love it like me invest in the long haul and insure it for stated value to cover your butt and don't worry about kbb or nada values. My nada value is what 12000 or 13000 ? My insured value is 37000. Ill never sell it

Nada and kbb aren't really a marauders best friend. I think the value to buyers will go up, but the book values will keep decreasing.

In my opinion, Marauders are gaining a lot of popularity and publicity due to the internet. Specifically, Instagram. a Handful of popular instagram users have/had Marauders, I feel that more and more people are realizing what they are. Its certainly helping

2-3K Marauders will be common

Somewhat agree...The Marauder still has a ways to go before she hits rock bottom. If the trend leans heavily toward smaller and smaller cars the value will drop fast and not recover. I'd base everything on the Impala of sorts. A 96 in cherry shape and low miles still commands a 5 digit price tag...I honestly do think they will have a higher value...I've seen a lowly Dodge Aspen with 16,000 have a $10,000 price on it so why not a Marauder with the same miles in 10-15 years not command the same.

I don't think there were enough MMs produced to have the prices drop that dramatically. As we lose more and more cars every year, They will be harder to find. I wouldn't be surprised to see them at least hold their value as time goes on.

I don't think that they will increase in value any time soon; but I believe we are already seeing a slowdown in the depreciation rate. The chart below is an estimate of depreciation that dates back to the early days. According to the chart, a 2003 MM would be $8,675 (FY14) and a 2004 MM would be about $9,850 (FY14).

We are already seeing these cars routinely selling for $2000 to $4000 higher than those numbers for low mileage, well maintained MMs. Some have commanded even higher prices for those who hold out.

MMs will probably continue to depreciate; but at a much slower rate than expected. Will it be $4-5K less .... who knows?

Would I sell mine for $10K right now? Definitely NOT --- I'm not done having fun with it yet. A buyer would have to make it worth my while to take my MM and sweeten the pot considerably.

I agree, but from a different starting point. Specialty Ford, low production cars always have some following and therefore value, but they never get huge just from the low production, which means no big volume of kids grew up fantasizing about them, and then paying big bucks to relive their youth. Think about 50's 2 seat T-birds, '56-57 Lincoln Mark 2's, etc. So, i agree on 'hold value'. My guess is MMs go flat at 25% of a new 4-door Ford price.

I don't think they will be as valuable as some owners want to believe. They will always be rare but that don't mean they will be valuable. If they do become valuable I won't see it. It'll be another 30-40 years and I'll be too old to care or gone to join Henry Ford in the big blue oval above. So I drive mine, totaled one, got another. Will do same if something happens to this one, if I still want one. They becoming popular with those that know what they are because they are getting cheaper & cheaper. Some of those guys were too young then or couldn't afford them as new or less than 10 years old. Now, just like the Gen 2 Lightnings & '03/04 Cobras you see a bunch of younger guys with them because they are cheap now as well. I saw a Marauder online for $4000 a Lightning for $6000. It's got a little performance and interior room from factory and that fits my total performance need for speed!!

here is the car I found for $4000

All cars are down in value right now, no one has any money, GN's are selling cheap now, get a good clean low mileage one for $15,000 to $20,000, just a few years back they where big money even with the large number of them they made! Brad and I almost bought one for $10,000 that was build to high heaven! Problem is it's in Idaho and still for sale! The owner has a truck load of parts to go with it. anyone interested in seeing it I can get more info or go to turbo buick. com and look at cars for sale!

Fact of the matter is Marauders werent worth the sticker price when they were new! the only reason i bought new was because with the discounts, and rebates it was $27,900 out the door, they were desperate to get these cars off the lot, as most know they didnt get the attention Ford anticipated, and i wouldnt hold my breath on "Classic car status" not going to happen, they will continue to decrease in value, but mines is priceless to me.

I don't care what the value is or will be. This car will be mine until I die. Mainly because it is easy to get in and out of. I will need that as I get old and stiff. The leather seats allowed my Dad to get in and out easily.

Plus it looks good. :)

ok... so yes... if a car has 100,000+ it will certainly depreciate. 200,000+ even faster.

I was thinking more about 15,000 to 25,000 mile cars that have been extremely well taken care of, appear new, and run, smell, and drive as such,

Not trying to "predict the future," but was wondering what the consensus was.

They will be worth as much as a grand marquis. 1 of 11052 isn't rare enough to pull a high value card and sure isn't a Collector car. I'm with zack. 2-3k comin right up

bossharp

I think that as inflation and the price of new cars goes up it will drag the value of a nice one up too..The same goes for the SRT 10 viper truck.I had a 2006 grey QC I bought for 23,000.00 in 2010 with 36k and a full factory extended warranty. I just sold it for 20,000.00 with 64k miles the day before the warranty run out. There is another possibility too. .If a popular TV show or movie features a MM it will help keep values up too.

kirk

It's all gross speculation.

It's all supply and demand, and even if supply is low, it doesn't mean there will be a demand. And no demand means no value. My 1963 is litterally a one of kind car, yet has much less value than one might expect. Mustangs, on the other hand, were made by the millions, yet many easily surpass my car in value by more than a little.

Then there are market fluctuations. We all know about those. A 1964 Montclair Marauder 427 sold new for about $4,300, and a beautifull example sold for $90,000 in 2007, but then the same car sold for just $68,000 in 2011.

Anybody who can accurately tell what these 2003-4 Marauders will be worth in 5, 10, or 50 years must have jumped out of a time machine.

I do believe the cars will be thought of highly. People will think that they were cool cars, even if seeing them for the first time 50 years from now. They are NO Grand Marquis! But that won't make them valuable.

As I've said about my '63.
It's ultra rare because nobody wanted them when they were new ...... and that hasn't changed much. :)

Anything is worth what someone will pay for it. NADA and KBB most likely have no clue what a Marauder even is, how many were made, how many are left, no less an actual value of a disappearing niche car...

At least my GN made this list and they are correct, you can still fine a clean (not chopped to pieces) GN for $15,000-$18000. but most have some work on them, never kew about super chips! think my first chip was a Kenn Bell and loved the pit bull chip.
I've been offered a lot of money over the years but never sold it, has been paid for years ago and what would I replace it with? The car was bought for my wife and she would cut my ahhhhhhh if I did. Just have to fix a couple of rust spots on the doors as she used it as an everyday drive and she'll be back in shape. Took it off the road yyears ago but bring it back over the nest couple of month's.
One thing I don't agree with is the difference between the GN and GNX. for a couple of hundred dollors in upgrades ( $200.00-$500.00) the GN could run along side the GNX "BUT" still wasn't a GNX.
