Has anyone here tried the Xenon 'Blue' Bulbs?
I would like to hear about your experience with them
or your opinions on them.
Compare to Silverstars...?
Thanks,

Like mercman said. Its a matter of preference.
I compared 4 types of bulbs in my car:
Stock = Stock...lol....yellowish tint.
Xenon Purple looked a bit too Pink. :D
Xenon Blue = Blue/White Color...looked cool but a matter of preference.
Silver Stars = Very White....whitest "bulbs" I've seen save of PIAA Xtreme White bulbs.
PIAA Xtreme Whites are almost identical to Silver Stars but more than double the price.

Is there a replacement bulb for the parking lamp other than the orange bulb ?
Does SilverStar make the parking lamp, and if so is it also orange ?

I have Zenon 80/100 headlamps and 100w Zenon fogs.
Running lamps...pitched the orange, too flashy. Went with titanium that glow orange when on.

My son is running the Street Glow Xenon Blues on his 2001 Cougar. He's thinking about switching to Silverstars but says that they are a little pricier. Again, as others have said, it is really a matter of preference. Some like the "blue effect", some don't. Either way, they are more brilliant than the stock bulbs -- I suspect Silverstars are in my future.
You may not have the same issues that I had with aftermarket bulbs but here is a link to my story. Note: My first Mod was Street glow bulbs and I had them for over a year before I experienced any problems.

Are the titanium bulbs made by Zenon ?
Are they the 3157's ?

Just got a chance to do some night driving tonight (after spending 5 hours washing and waxing my car) with my new Silverstars, and I like them alot. I immediately noticed how much brighter they are, and the color temperature is much whiter. A nice, easy upgrade that I'd recommend for everybody.

Please advise me on installation specifics...
I have ordered SS lights for my new MM.
I have the 9007's coming for the headlights and H1's coming for the fogs.
Will someone who has done noth of these please adivse me on any tricks of replacing these.
Anything I need to watch out for?
Can all the sockets be reached easily from under the hood and be laying under
the front of the car?
How about screws, twisting, pulling, etc.
Thanks,
David

I should start a poll, to make sure I'm not the only one...
Did anyone else drop one of these headlamp screws and lose it in the engine bay somewhere?? It is like it went into the subframe and disappeared..?? Oh well, I am down to 5 headlamp screws.. a few more light bulb changes, and I'll be using duct tape to keep my headlamps in!

Silverstars makes a parking light bulb I beleive the number is (3157ST), they have a blueish tint to them when there off. When you turn them on they are orange.

First, you'll want to remove the little push pins (3 of them) that hold in place the plastic shrowd over the radiator. A little screwdriver pops them up and out and the whole shrowd lifts out. This will give you a clear view at the headlight assemblies. Each headlight assembly has three screws holding it in place. Remove these screws (careful you don't drop them) and then un-hook the electrical connector for the headlamp. Now you can pull the entire headlight assembly out of the car. Remove them both and take them to your work bench. On the back of the headlight assembly is a plastic retaining ring. This screws off with about 1/3 of a turn. You can now pull the actual lamp straight out the back (don't twist) of the assembly. Simply put the new lamp in it's place and twist the retaining ring back on. Put the headlight assembly back in the car, put the screws back in and hook up the electrical connection and you're done.
The driving lights are even easier, but you'll need to jack up the car to get at them, at least I did. You can reach up under the bumper and turn the socket about a half turn to remove it. It then pulls straight out from the back. Once the socket is out you'll see that the lamp itself just pulls straight out of the socket, the new lamp pushes straight in.
Take care not to touch the glass portion of any of the lamps while changing. Always try to grip them by their plastic base.

I have been looking for EXACTLY that, Cruz! Those "titanium that glow orange when on" side marker lamps! What are those size lamps called?
Again, Cruz, is there a specific recommended manufacturer, brand name, and part no. of both the "Zenon 80/100" lamps (I want the bluish look) AND those "titanium that glow orange when on" side marker lamps you're talking about here? What is the "size/generic part no." of the little orange side marker lamp? Also, which national retail outlets stock them? Thanks for any and all info!

The Sylvania SilverStars turn signal lamps are sort of titanium colored when off. I say sort of because when I look at mine you can see some orange when off, and some of the blue-ish titanium color. Sort of an odd look, but kind of cool. Of course they're bright orange when lit.

R. Dean:
I appreciate the info, but I've already researched the Sylvania Cool Blue lamps, and they're NOT blue!
FYI: Here's the product FAQ directly from the Sylvania site:
"Are they really blue? No. Cool Blue headlights are coated with a blue absorption coating to deliver a more intense white light that meets SAE white color standards and photometric requirements, making them 100% street legal in the US. They are perceived as brilliant white light."
Cruz? Any hints on the make and retail outlet for those titanium side marker lamps? The quest continues . . .

Sorry NBC!!! I missed your post.
The titanium marker bulb I speak of is made by "APC", American Products Co. part number 50.4138.B (3157 replacement) and is available from your local 'ricer' store or by logging onto www.4apc.net (http://www.4apc.net/) and the price was about $6 each
They look far better than stock.
I do not recommend the brand of headlamp that I am using. But the Zenon street glows instead. I also wish to update you, DO NOT buy 80/100's. Everyone was right....as I recently melted the left side wire harness. Stick to near stock wattages, or upgrade the harness'. I believe APC sells the harness upgrade as well. They are about $35 for the harness pair.

Thanks for the post, Barry, but . . . which APC 9007 bulb are you using that you're NOT recommending here?
. . . . but the Zenon street glows instead.
I finally found the "Xenon Street Glow" 9007 bulb at sounddomain.com. Sounds like the ticket for as-close-as-you-can-get-to-HID-look with a Xenon bulb! According to user reviews at the sounddomain.com website, these "Xenon Street Glow" bulbs do have a bluish tint (which is what I was looking for!). Thanks Barry!!!
Here's a couple excerpts from user reviews posted at sounddomain.com . . .
"These bulbs almost give you the true HID headlight conversion look. They give you a bright white look with a blueish tint." --z24ryan
"I used to own the Silvania Silverstars, they were pretty good, and I thought they were very bright. Well, after this purchase, I changed my mind . . . a true HID look, blue and sharp. For this price, those are the best lightbulbs you can buy." --krzysiopl

Eurolite 4800K "Purple" System + "Titanium-look" 3157 amber replacement:
SDON: EUR9007DP Eurolite Xenon Super Plasma 55W/65W 9007; Xenon gas; 4800K; DOT/SAE approved; color: purple tint

SDPN: APC504138B APC Titan bright silver/amber 3157; incandescent; 2900K; non-DOT/SAE; exterior bulb color: silver/when lit: amber
After quite a bit of internet research, the above is what I have found to be the "coolest" replacement bulbs for our 9007/H1 lamps and our 3157 marker lamp bulbs.
Incandescent lamps are typically about 2900-degrees Kelvin. The Street Glow Xenons are claiming a 4000-degree Kelvin color temperature. The Eurolite Xenon Super Plasmas are claiming a 4800-Kelvin color temperature. Nominal daylight color temperature is about 5600-Kelvin (to as high as 10000 Kelvin). The higher the color temperature, the "bluer" the light. Since artificial lights often produce, incomplete, distorted, or imbalanced spectrums (when compared to natural daylight), the Kelvin ratings can be somewhat misleading and/or inaccurate. However, I am going to go with the 4800-Kelvin lamps, the Eurolites. Beware that high-color temperature Xenon lamp life is probably fairly short (as little as a few months as reported in at least one user review).
The good thing about the Eurolite products is that they are standard Wattages, and therefore do not require adding an aftermarket wiring harness (APC makes one, but I could not find it listed anywhere online for sale, and the APC website does not denote a part number).

I used the "blue" lights in my S-10 and all it got me was bright lights flashed in my face constantly. I never used the Silver Stars but have heard they are nice. For the record the blue HID lights are going to becoming illegal in many states due to the light being too bright. The only cars that will allowed to legally run them are those with automatic leveling lights such as BMS and such have. I am not an expert but just what I heard from a State Trooper friend when I was researching some strobe lights for turn signals in my Monte.

Not too hot for wiring harnesses& or bulb housings? I had a personal experience where they were installed in a Thunderbird admitedly an older one and about two or three years ago. The wiring harneses were spliced with new sockets. the customer came to our ford svc. dept. complaining the headlamps had a mind of thier own. The tech. that examined the issue claimed the "Blue bulbs" (or maybe the improper install)had caused conciderable damage to the housings and wiring. This is back when I first started noticeing them on cars that weren't OEM .The service manager told the lady "these blue bulbs are not stable and are not intended for use in your car we agree to do the repair but only to install factory bulbs" I'm sure they have gotten better from recent R&D.And sounds like you have a handle on this issue. I did notice your comment about durability so maybe the manufacture's still don't have all these bulbs perfected. Anyway I'm thinkin they'll look kick a$$ hope they don't cause you any grief!!

I do recommend the above mentioned side marker bulbs. They appear silver when off, but glow amber when on. They look much better the the queer orange ones we have now.
I will not give the name of the non-reccommended ZENON HEADLAMPS, AS THEY WERE MAIL ORDER CHEAPIES, and not worth the plug. I love the Zenons though, but I need to emphasize the urgency to stick with stock wattages. Our headlamp wiring harness' are not up to par for what I tried to do. I ran 80 watt lowbeams with 100 watt highbeams. Worked great for about a year.....
If you want really bright bulbs, do the harness mod as well.
The Zenons are greatt otherwise, and will not harm the car in anyway if purchased in the stock wattage ratings.
I don't get the suggestion that people will flash their headlights at you if you use Zenons?
No one flashes me and I run twice the normal wattage for a low beam. Some people are just morons and like to flash highbeams....if they do they get a nice return flash of 100 watts! Screw em, they probably are driving an old POS with yellow headlamps and are in dire need of retinal surgery.:D

Eurolite Xenon Super Plasma 55W/65W 9007
Eurolite Xenon Super Plasma 55W H1
APC Titan bright silver/amber 3157
All the above, I believe are factory-Wattage bulbs. The Eurolite Xenon Super Plasma 55W/65W 9007 bulbs are standard-Wattage bulbs and do not require a high current harness. The Street Glow Xenon-White bulbs are 80W/100W and DO REQUIRE a high current socket/harness, available seperately from APC.
