A few days ago I was driving and I noticed no heat in the car and looked over to see the temperature gauge red hot, I pulled over asap and the car stalled and boiled over. I had it towed in and my mechanic drained and refilled the car with new antifreeze, and did an oil change. We are certain it was burped properly.

The car started and seemed to run well again, temperature is good, fans working ok, thermostat etc.

Now It has a noticeable engine miss under load and I find myself feathering the throttle so to speak and it seems to be running poorly, idle is very low also at stop lights.

I have only driven it 20 miles but the car is just not the same. It is Lidio tuned.

Please tell me it may only need a new coil or plugs or something simple?
Or did I just crack or warp a head?

Needs a compression check/leak down test.

Does your oil or antifreeze look different. Plus what he^ said

I checked the dipstick to see if I could detect antifreeze in the oil and it looks ok, I never thought to check the antifreeze, which I will do now, thanks.

This doesn't sound good:( id check/change plugs, then do a leak down test. Hopefully it checks out good, if it does, it could be the coils. Good luck.

You may have dropped a valve seat(s). A leakdown and compression test will tell.

Another vote for leakdown and compression test.

How many miles are on the car?

If you are lucky, you may have slightly melted a spark plug tip(s).

I had my Marauder overheat on me and let me tell you it was heartbreaking.

The car over heated due to water pump not working. I was at a stand still at a light - a few blocks from home. Noticed the needle rising and back home I went. The car did over heat - all the way to the red - but started good once it cooled down. Looked at antifreeze and all good. No white smoke, nothing. Took apart the engine and noticed the sleeve on the block had dropped. I mean it was such a small amount, maybe the width of my finger nail - never took pictures. Had to get the block resurfaced. It turned from miss firing (cylinder 8) to a total rebuild due to a water pump going bad - yes I did start to hear the noise of cans rattling. I just did a regular OEM Ford parts rebuild, nothing fancy.

Hope yours turns out with a better outcome.

Sorry to hear this. I hope things turn out ok. I wonder why it overheated in the first place?

I re-did my cooling system hoses and water pump to avoid overheating at all costs. In fact I just got a new radiator delivered yesterday from UPS. Nothing wrong with my old one, but with 145k and nearly 12 years on the clock I figure it's time and it's cheap insurance to just replace it when I do my Eaton swap.

I was fortunate, dropped in a new set of plugs, cleaned all the coils, double dose of lucas injector cleaner and car was better right away. The more I drove it today the better it ran. All is good with lots of power.

Compression test was 150 lbs all cylinders. It looks as though the car started to freeze up and overheated.
