Would these still work with something like a Whipple 2.9 on a forged 4.6? Anyone know if additional hardware (pulleys/tensioners, ect.) Would be needed?

if any adjustment is needed for tensioner stand offs i'm local and could accomodate.

alternator would be the same

I think the time to buy some cool lji372 parts has finally arrived. I've been looking into a Kenne-Bell 2.8L twin screw (and a new motor :(), which is a bolt-on replacement for '03-'04 Cobra. This may locate the blower pulley correctly with respect to the Marauder crank pulley. Supposedly 6-rib is adequate, although I do wonder if going with 8-rib right from the start would be wise.

What did you machine to help make this happen?

lji372
03-08-2016, 06:12 AM
if the kenne bell sits back further to utilize one belt which i believe it does, you would only need the alternator relocating bracket (and obviously change all of your pulleys to 8 rib).

i make nothing to specifically to make an 8 rib system regarding the alternator bracket. you would just need to add spacers between the mounting points and the timing cover.

If it is a Kenne Bell direct replacement for the Cobra Terminator Eaton, it will have the pulley in the same location as the Eaton Swap kit. The short snout Kenne Bell is for a Mach1 and uses a single belt. Not nearly as dependable as the 2-belt setup.

The KB 2.8L blower is listed as a bolt-on upgrade for the '03 - '04 Cobra, I don't think it is for the Mach 1. Sounds like it uses a standard 2-belt configuration AKA eaton swap. Which is probably a good thing as far as sourcing parts. Guess I might have to get that stainless crossover tube setup as well.

Then thereis no difference for the 8 rib belt.
You may need to address the width of the pulley on your tensioner is all :2thumbs:

The Whipple 2.3L and 3.3L are CARB approved, but not the 2.9L. And they are approved for Mustang, not sure if Cobra or otherwise. Emissions really throw a monkey wrench in things, but should still be possible.

I may be wrong since I don't live in CA, but doesn't the CARB # need to match the model of car? or does it follow the engine? ie: cobra motor can have CARB cobra power adders. I'm not aware of any Marauders in CA that have twin screws and are smog legal. Not sure how the vortech ones are approved and pass for Marauders..

Sort of. If you don't do an engine swap the CARB # has to match the car model. But you can do an "engine swap" to a Mustang engine and then run any mustang CARB legal add-ons assuming the engine swap rules are followed. It is not completely black and white and merits a discussion with the local referee in advance.

My understanding is the engine serial number indicates model year, but not necessarily what car it came out of. Although I could be wrong.
