I just popped my hood and found my K&N filter cone seperated from my air intake! Has this happenned to anyone? I always make sure to tighten it well after cleaning. Not sure how it got seperated.
I'm really upset and worried about this as far as dust and dirt getting in there. I'm not sure how long it's been seperated but the Marauder doesn't show any symptoms and has been running fine. :mad2:
Guess I'll be checking under the hood a bit more often. Besides cleaning the MAF, intake, etc... anything else I should do? Maybe Seafoam or other?
Thanks!

BTW, no, I'm not selling it for $8.00!

How about tree fiddy?
Seriously, clean the intake tract, the MAF, and the throttle body with MAF cleaner, change the oil and call it a day. Seafoam won't do anything for you in this case.

I'm having that same problem. It's as if the filter shrank, and won't slide on properly. I was told to try returning the filter to K&N and see if they will replace it. I haven't contacted them or tried to do this yet.

It's been my experience that over oiling causes the oil to migrate in between the filter and tube. Clean with rubbing alcohol, tighten the clamp and call it a day.

It's cold up here in NE. I had to use a heatgun to warm it up and get it back on.

I'll try that and see. But it's not that cold here any more.

My JLT loosened up at the elbow. Only thing I can figure is the colder weather shrunk the rubber.

If it shrunk then it should have gotten tighter.
If it expands it gets looser

Well, mine must have loosened and then shrunk. The lip on the filter that the band goes around was hard as a rock. It was around 40 degrees today and I couldn't get it back on without a little heat.
Ordered another filter today also :)

If the rubber didn't shrink, then my clamps grew.
Regardless, the weight of the filter and pipe pulled it down.

I had the exact same thing happen. I noticed it when it was really cold. Car has been in the garage since November, so no worries, I just have to get it back together.

My filter was the same way, then it fell off. So I heated it up with a heat gun, until it was soft again. A little lube on the tube, and it slid all the way on, and is now very tight. No need for a new filter.
