Anyone ever had to replace a plug due to the lock clip breaking off? I've got a few that I want to replace, just not sure of the style. Came across a company called Pico that makes tons of all different types of replacement connectors/pigtails.

Does this connector look correct?
Just go to the boneyard and get some for a buck.
Take a slender straight pick to unpin them.

I broke a tab off & jammed a tooth pick in the plug to hold it together. I'll have to try a zip tie next time I work on it (thanks).

I bought one from FORD for $45.00 and they said I could simply push the pins from the old and install the new housing.......NOPE!!:mad2:
The replacement wires are heavier and by the time you solder it in with shrink tubing it becomes much BIGGER!!:argue:
Zip ties next time!!

Zipties here on my 01 vic. Don't know about the PICO brand, if you don't want to zip tie I would also recommend a boneyard.

The guy at the Ford store that works on my car said they break them all the time, too.

Just used a bit of ATV silicone sealant at the junction. When doing the plugs just do that one first.

I got these from Ebay,I had the same prob the connectors can break with high heat & age & if man handled too much could break & cause arching.:shake:
I plan to put in all new stuff for the top end & also because 3 coil connectors clips are broken & zip tied together. :o

Increase power to the spark plug up to 400% over stock
Customers have reported up to 15HP (normally aspirated) & 35HP (s/c, turbo, & nitrous). Average gains on an otherwise stock motor are 5hp
OH, the BS they try to sell

Just say no to zip ties and boneyard brittle plastic. Unfortunately the new replacement will bulk up a bit, you have to be pretty neat with the wire splicing. In theory, with the right connector surgery tool, you can pop out the pins and replace the plastic housing only. In theory . . .

Yeah no zip ties here and junkyard ones will fail again just as quick.
I was just going to swap the pins and move right on along.

Buy the connector with a pig tail. Cut and splice with solder and heat shrink. Nice and neat like. That's the ticket!

What I did. A friend of mine works at a yard. I picked up a few sets of COP plugs and also injector plugs for my buddies with foxes like mine that don't want to run those stupid EV1 to EV6/USCAR adapters. I wasn't to worried since the 3 cars I ransacked were all under 20k in mileage.

Post the part number of the tool or details on how to do it. I gave up and cut and spliced. :(

You can just use a pick or jewelers screwdriver.
Here is an example of what needs to be done.

Can someone translate this message for me? It seems that the abbreviated "EV1" and "EV6/USCAR" have something to do with Mustangs, and that they are "stupid"? I don't see what they have to do with Marauders? Does the statement mean that our "plugs" are even better than the ones that come on Mustangs?

Honestly, I am not sure why people are afraid of splicing the harness.
Can you ask your friend to score me the Dodge fan connectors I need? :D

I'm not afraid of splicing wires, I'm soldering wires all day everyday. De-pinning/pinning is quicker for me than splicing in most cases.

While splicing, if done correctly is safe and reliable, de/re-pinning is much more elegant, looks better, and is one less point of possible failure. It's just overall the better solution.

Indeed google is wonderful -- but, nonetheless, my questions remain unanswered -- the link refers to what appear standard replacement parts for OEM components.
I see no reason to solder wires, when a simple replacement of the broken plastic plug would suffice?

He never said they were stupid, he was talking about a adapter that some use to run EV6 injectors on a vehicle that has an EV1 connection, that's all.

Some people like to just cut and solder, some like to keep things clean and stock looking.

I agree with you and my comment was not directed at you cince you are in the field. Most lay people find de-pinning troublesome.

I concur. See my comment above.

I bought just the connectors from weapon x performance. No pigtail, just new connectors and crimp on pins. IIRC they were about $3-4 each.
