Our beloved cat who we rescued from certian death years ago has discovered he can get up on the Marauder. I am now finding dirty little paw prints and just a few very short and narrow scratches  .

Suggestions to kill or de-limb the cat are not going to be helpful..

We cannot keep him out of the garage....

Any ideas on an easy way to prevent this behavior?

I have moved everything farther away from the car but apparently the cat can jump the height from ground level.

Please help :depress:

The only thing that comes to mind quickly is a car cover while inside the garage as well......

Growing up, my family always had cats...and yes, they like to get on and IN cars...they like the warm hood, and the wide command of their territory the view from up on the car provides. I don't think there's much you CAN do, short of putting a car-cover on it...anything else you try to dissuade it will generally result in damage to the car or the cat...and, for God's sake, don't try sneaking up while the cat's asleep and screaming "BOO!" at it...trust me...

Here's one idea. A friend used it to keep the cat off the counters.

Oh now thats interesting.... not cheap but hmmmm

Somebody here at work said there are sprays you can use...

First thought would be can it harm the paint? anybody use this stuff before?

maybe I could put it on a towel

I know what you mean. Went to put the garbage out the other night, there was a possum asleep on the trunk. Funny thing is they leave my old F150 and my wifes Honda alone, The MM got all kinds of paw prints on it. Got to get me a car cover

Like other have said, you can't make a cat do anything it doesn't want to do. I've tried everything from double sided sticky tape to a super soaker to get cats to not go where I don't want them to go.

Like RF Says, a super soaker isn't bad for the car, but when the little pitons come out to aid in traction for the escape, they can really leave your paint worse for the experience :(

I was having problems with neighbourhood cats on the MM (paw prints, scratches on the quarter panels). A car cover worked. You can't beat'em, might as well limit the damage.

I know this is not much help, but we recently decided to evict our cat from the garage. She really raked the front of my wife's van. I guess she couldn't get a good grip on that severely sloped hood.

We feed her on the deck, or right inside. And my little girl loves to bring her in and play with her. So she's an inside/outside cat. Took her a little while to get used to her "new home." But now the Marauder is safe - and so is she.

Best solution, bring the cat in, de-claw her, and make her a permanent indoor cat. Don't ask me how many cats we have inside.

Duct tape around the paws?
I keep my Daughters cat out of the garage.
It was up on my car once, twice would prove to be fatal.
Yes, you are correct, I do not like cats.
Buy a car cover.

My 63 is too long for the garage so the door won't shut all the way, else I may not have a problem. :pimp:
And then their's the problem with the varmits pissin on the wheels and tires, makes the cheap chrome reverse rust in a matter on seconds :bigcry: :help: :censor:

We used to have a high-frequency sonic anti-pest device for our garage. I found out it was not keeing pests out (we never had any to begin with, so it was like flapping your arms "to keep the elephants away").

It did, however, drive the cat nuts and she doesn't go into the garage.

Maybe a high pitch noisemaker in the garage all the time? Very low-voltage, but might keep cat away entirely.

Just a thought,

Maybe the kitty is trying to emulate the Cougar in the old Mercury commercials.

Four cats inside, two strays outside which have adopted us, plus the many dozens of assorted birds that we feed, and the possums and coons who come around at night to eat the outside cats food.

Pet stores have a very stinky powder/pellets that you could put in cups near the car. Nasty smell. If you do declaw, please use laser process, much less painful for the poor kitty.

This really limits your options.....

If he/she is inside only you could have it de-clawed.At least you wouldn't have the scratching problem.

Scraminal - Is a device that my vet recommended to keep our cat off the counters. It is a motion detector that emits a high pitched sound that the cats do not enjoy, so they run away from it, thus getting off of the counter/car.

Good luck.

Heavy....

I have a scat mat. It works great. Taught my cats to stay out of the baby crib, the counters, and the fireplace.

In a short time they learn. It's grey, and once they associate the long gray mat with a horrible bite, they stay away.

You can borrow mine if you like. Use 2 or three gray bath towels as well.
Over time, you won't need the scat mat, just the gray towels, which are easy to throw on the car after you park. Place them on the entry edge the cat is jumping to, ie. the hood or trunk.

The final blow and satisfaction. Set up a camcorder on extended play and catch it on film. Ussually it takes only one blast on high from the 9-volt battery and you're both satisfied. :P

Two of my cats learned quickly, one just apparently loves pain and I still have to break it out every now and again. It has a sensor indicating how many time it was tripped as well.

Send me a PM, and we can work out a loaner if you wish.

I really appreciate the offer and the tape of this must be priceless.

What seems to be working sofar is a 3x3 piece of bubblewrap that I just placed on the hood near the left front fender where the tracks seemed to start.

Now its hard to tell if this is working but I have not seen the footprints in the last few days.

I may be taking you up on the offer if this doesn't do the trick.

As always, the people here are first class...

Bubble wrap...? Nice!

I forgot, Aluminum foil works too. Anything that feels uncool to their feet. Great idea.

Barry: Any idea if this would work with Todd? I sure wouldn't mind sending a few amps coursing through his body! Man would I love to have a video tape of that!!

In fact, let me give my friend BillyGman a call. Maybe he will exchange a ride in a GT for a little "deterent" work on Todd. Billy does have that big azz gun just hanging around doin' nothin' anyway...

Wow, I haven't smiled like this in a long time. These ideas are simply too enticing!!

You see that at Krogers. Whenever they ask the cat in line in front of me if they want paper or plastic it's always paper.

Our cat loves all types of newspaper, paper grocery bags, and *especially* plastic grocery bags. She apparently likes the sound they make when she walks on them. She lies around on them at least a couple hours a day.

It's saved us buying cat toys. Two or three plastic grocery bags on the floor and one discarded shoestring = one happy cat.

Todd's option is effective, but it scratches the hell out of your roof, and gets cat blood all over your car, inside and out.

A good shot from a compound bow will remove the cat from your car without giving it time to claw. Gotta keep the car in mind here. :P

While I don't have a problem with a cat trying to sleep on my hood, I do have a cat that likes to sleep under my car. It's our neighbor's cat, and the damn thing really likes sleeping under my car for some wierd reason. Just the other day, you should have seen that thing run after I started up the engine. What I would like to do, is keep that damn thing off of my yard because it uses it as it's personal latrine. That cat must be smart, because there is no telling what I would do to it if it tried to sleep on top of my car........

No, Todd is such a easy target of oportunity
On a seriouse note, we wouldn't tease him if we didn't like him, and most of the time he seems to play along ;)
