If they can come up with Lambo doors, I'm sure this could be possible.

From what I've found I think there's a lambo kit for the mid 90s gm's, might be easier to just fab it out using stock hardware, looks doable

Ive been tossing an idea around, has anybody tried to suicide the doors on our ladies? Is there a kit or is this something I should consider fabricating?
I think it would look cool with not much fab, basically reversing the door hinges and pecker bolt (latch), has anybody tried this?

You try it 1st

Morning? Ok, there will be a lot of fab with reinforcement but I don't see a reason to dog this idea, if somebody doesn't wanna try then keep negative comments to yourself

That's just Zack. He isn't being negative, he just has social issues. That is why we had to keep him in isolation the last few years and only recently let him come out in public and play again.

I'm also doing suicide doors and making my hood open from the back and the trunk open from the front. The glove box will open sideways and of course the engine is going in the back upside down.

Will the coolant circulate in the opposite direction?

You'll only be able to drive it in Australia.

Not sure if it makes a difference with a body on frame vehicle or unibody such as the Mark 8.

imagine if those doors were powered by vacuum like dem classic hiding lights.

03-21-2014, 03:23 PM
Actually, pretty easy to do suicide doors,
It is just time consuming, and hidden hinges make it more of a challenge,
Probably 60-85 hours a side to do.

I've thought about suicide doors since I picked her up. I wanted to swap sides with the handles and then move them forward so as the front taper upward, the rears taper back down.

Being a mechanical linkage, you would almost "need" to move the handles, but I think it could be done with the handles in the stock location and either use a cable system or..... a solenoid to operate the latch and a micro switch on the handle to activate it.

It might be a fun project to do once, I've done them on other cars so it sorta takes the "fun" factor out of it for me. But I think it would look cool as hell on a Marauder.

This is cool as ****!!!!

The only drawback I see is if it's raining....would allow a lot of water into the car. But then again, I guess you wouldn't drive the car when raining?

Anyways....it's cool as ****!

Man could I have used a door set-up like that when I was in college!

On the way home from a serious beer drinking binge, I could've avoided spewing puke on the outside of my door!!!

and sometimes even on the inside of my door.....:o

I believe you're thinking of the Mercedes 300SL, but the newer Mercedes SLS has then as well. Can't forget the DeLorean or the Bricklin SV-1.

Doesn't the hood already open from the back...:dunno:

I actually inquired from a body shop many, many years ago about having the hood of my 79 Mark V open from the from the front like some of the older Lincolns...they said $200 real quick. I also asked how much to have my rear quarter windows retract...they said $200...this is why I didn't have them do either...it was like "The Money Pit" with Tom Hanks..."When will you be done?"-Hanks..."2 weeks"-contractor...
