I took off the components to my left E-brake about 2 years ago when i installed the R1 rotor.......the E-Brake shoes and springs just popped out on me so i put all the pieces in a zip-lock to fix at another time.....

Does anybody have a picture of the what the E-brake should look like installed, cant seem to remember how it went together........

before you ask I would rather not take the right wheel off because i dont want the same thing to happen

NC requires your E brake to work as part of the inspection so I will have a year once its registered in april to get it fixed

thanks!!!!

Did you go buy a new hardware kit? Use anti seize on the star adjuster threads

I recommend taking it to a shop. New pads will need adjustment and brakes are never a good idea to 'practice' on. If your dead set on doing them yourself get a shop manual or im sure theres a YouTube video on it.

You think autozone, advance, or oriellys would have them?!?

I mean it doesnt seem too hard, I changed the rotors and pads on mine and the wifes car, just tryna to remember where everything goes....

Yes, for less than $20 . It can be for crown Vic or grand marquis. 2003 or 2004 they are the same. I've done two e. Brake on cv and marauder. It's not hard but can be difficult getting some of the springs in. A brake tool helps. You'll need to adjust the star wheel after all together and wheels on thru the backing plate. There is a small oval rubber plug

Its not hard, just a bit complicated with drum style brakes. Disc brakes are easy. Im not saying you're incompetent, just saying let's hope if you ever have an "oh sheet! " moment your e brake works the way it should!. If you do it yourself, at Louisville you can adjust mine...after a long day of installation of brakemotives kit, i gave up with adjusting my e brakes.

thats the reason i gave up 2 years ago was because of one of those springs :mad2:

they are pretty easy to adjust once you get the rotor off which is the hardest part of the job, especially if you've had your rotors on for a while

Ebrakes are adjusted with rotor on and wheel on the ground otherwise it will not hold anything or burn up if rubbing

Looks about right, except I thinks upside down. Been awhile though..

Just make sure the adjuster wheel doesn't get hung up on the spring.

Your not supposed to take that off.

Push the spring back while holding the end of the cable.

I guess ill be ordering a new one, it doesnt have a spring on it anymore :mad2:

Can that cable section be ordered separately or is there a parking brake kit??

the piece is in the video at 2:12 in post #18, it sits in between the parking brake pads
