Having the Triology Supercharger in the Marauder I've noticed that having the alternator flipped around and running backwards has caused them to go bad quickly. Last night the Check Engine came on and I noticed that Volts running at about 12.5 to 12.9. I am trying to find other options: Do i need to get a custom alternator, so I dont have to replace them like crazy?

My stock one lasted over five years/50,000 miles plus on the Trilogy. I only replaced it last year with the cheapest available thru DB electrical for giggles. Still going perfectly fine.
What brand are you buying that they don't last? Also, have you checked the extended wiring for shorts or corrosion?

Prior to this one, i was going directly to the Ford Dealer near me. I went to a aftermarket place. I'll check the wire extensions, once it gets warm. thanks for the input.

I had similar issues. The guy that rebuilt my alternator said that spinning the alt backwards has a negative effect on cooling. The cooling fins are spinning the wrong way. Also there is not a lot of air flow were the alt sits in its new location. Not sure what pulley the trilogy kit uses but the one listed for the eaton swap is smaller causing the alt to spin at higher rpms during spirited driving.
Check the solder connections where it was extended. Common problem
