View Full Version : Anything car related?

Do any locals know if there is a car show, race day.... junkyard?

Anything car related in town or an event?

The worlds biggest go-kart track an hour away is all that comes close.

Open to any suggestion.

Thanks!

Not sure of anything going on car related...but there are several junkyards that are pretty good for parts...Pull-a Part is one the other is Amen...I go to both. Got several parts for TJ's Impala just last Saturday...fairly close by...and as for the worlds biggest go cart track, if you're referring to Kart Country, it isn't an hour away from the hotel...

He can't understand how 80 people from across the country can get together and have the time of their lives, all based on events revolving around liquor.

Yes and no.

Years ago I recall when we all cruised somewhere and we're welcomed to a Sonic and even a car show. I have not seen any of that. That's what I enjoy. When I go to a car event I like going to car activities.

No I do not know how drinking all weekend is "the time of your lives." If that was the case, the gathering would be from booze, not Marauders. Perhaps it's the time of your life and as usual anyone who doesn't see things your way on any subject is wrong and an idiot in your eyes.

The only way that I can deal with Zack is when I am drinking. But, he drinks Girlyman drinks.

There are no local car shows or cruises that weekend.

Several people are going to the nearby indoor go-kart track.

As for car cruises, there will be a huge 3-day one in a certain Hampton Inn's parking lot. That's where I'll be.

EDIT: removed....

FYI, the cost to get in was costly. It was soup for dinner and a banana for breakfast for a week straight. You look for as many ways to save as possible.

You would not understand. As I do not understand all activities in your life.

Dom, for some of us that live a good jump away from the other 99%, it's one of the few times we can raise our glass and have a drink with these friends. If it was all about the drinking, Mike wouldn't run himself ragged to plan events he thinks we will enjoy. Even then it's not the places, its who you are with in these places...

Dom, I plan on skipping the Wild Turkey run on Friday and head south to see Mammoth Caves National Park. It's about an hour and half drive so we're going to try and leave the hotel on the earlier side so we have time to get down, see some sights and be back in time for dinner at Mike's.

I know the Kentucky meet is in it's 9th year so it's hard to find stuff to do that hasn't already been done. This will be my 2nd meet and I'd like to take advantage of seeing beautiful National and Kentucky State parks.

You are more than welcome to join us

Why is this a Blast Dom post, he asked for other ideas, he didn't knock Mike's itinerary. It is Dom's choice not to drink and I respect him for it. How many events do we get 100% participation? How many times does Zack, etc skip out of an event? Who makes fun of him? Why do some of us think that abusing / bullying Dom is OK, just because he has different values, He is one of US, a passionate and proud Marauder owner. Why does it matter that Dad bought him his car? He was a sixteen year old that worked for his Dad. Has Dad bought him another car? Has Dad bailed him out, when he has his problems with the car? How many of us get bonuses at work for a job well done? Why can't a Dad buy his son whatever he wants? I bought all three of my daughters their first cars, not a brand new car, or a Marauder, but a reliable car nonetheless. And they didn't even work for me. My choice, no one elses.

This has been eleven years of picking on Dom. He asked a straight forward question. If you have a legitimate and helpful suggestion, post, otherwise STFU!

Has he done some bone headed things? yes, how many of us haven't, we learn. He has acted a lot more grown up than a lot of others here. Time to start showing some respect. Off my :soap:

I have to agree with Dom, car get together, car events, makes sense. Alcohol injected, people make bad decisions, say and do things they regret and generally after time, ruin their lives, see it on a daily basis.

I don't judge anyone, it's your life and your choice, and as long as your the only one affected by your choice, then thats great, when I have to notify a family that their loved one has passed, because of your choices, then its a problem.

The number one reason I don't participate in these events........ I have seen the end results.

Wow. Thanks Ken. I will buy you a drink and find a ice cream for myself.

There is reasoning for this.... sorry to go on, but I think I know what it is.

On the topic of family my dad would not let me buy a car. I saved up enough money to buy a Chevrolet Caprice and he would not let me. Told me I needed a car with a warranty. I had the money for a used full size, but being 16 I needed permission and it would not be given to me, but a new Marauder would.

My dads dad did that too. We all got hand me down cars, but by the time I got my K5 Blazer it was breaking every other week.... this is after I put 100,000 miles on it while I was 16. I drove a lot. I blew up the engine on that truck after the oil pan rusted though while driving... got stuck in a toll booth actually. haha. So I got a new car and kept it running right ever since... with a lot of assistance. It's the car I learned how to work on cars with. The first car I ever changed the oil in, the car that saved my life from black ice, the car I drove one of The Ramones in from Cleveland to Chicago listening to Chuck Berry and Doo Wop music the whole time and not talking about a thing. Lot's of memories in this car and they keep coming.

As far as people being people and giving me a hard time, that's human nature. What one will see as different will stand out and a lot of times people do not like that. They all like being the same and united. I do not fit in with really the Marauder demographics, but I could go to Austin, TX and be the norm. Seriously. There is nothing special or unique about me, but it may seem that way when everyone else differs from me.

The whole not drinking thing you are right on too. I was simply looking for other activities. My cheap thrills differ from 99% of the population. Booze is cheap and it makes people feel good. My fix is music. I can go on a $5 shopping spree and walk out with 50 45 records and be happy as a clam. That's not what most Marauder people would do with $5. I was not waving the flag of "I don't drink and you should not either." Like Spectragod, I do not care what anyone does as long as it doesn't effect me. If people wanna drink, drive a Prius, route for their local football team, listen to some music I am not fond of.... I do not care. That's their life and I have mine, but a lot do not see it that way. It's easier to be alone and not have conflicts than argue all day with someone on what one thinks is right and wrong.

This is exactly what I do not like people too much and society for that matter. The Marauder and Marauder group is the only group I can put up with. We are all drawn together for the same reason, we all have the same car. What you do to it or how you use it is your own business. Even if I disagree with someone on their usage, it doesn't make me right and them wrong. The bottom line is we all have the same car and that's all that matters in the end.

Another thread started with a simple question followed by "Dom's an idiot and needs to shut up." Quite the norm. Innocent, people instigate and say it's my fault.

:bs:

Whatever.
