Hey guys, and girls of course. I just picked up my first mm. She has 175k on her and oh yeah shes been driven. Seems like general maintanance and care were neglected by the previous owner. I plan on changing all fluids going throught the motor cleaning throttle body and ect. If anybody knows any serious issues i should check please let me know! Stock 2003 mm black! Let the repairs and mods begin!

Any ticking in the heads? Any extreme chatter on startup? Ball joints and bushings all OK?

I do hear a small ticking. Ball joints do need to be replaced but ive done them on my mgm so it shouldnt be a problem. But yes ticking i the heads and seems to have had an overheating issue at one point. Rust covering the engine from the fluid.

The OHC action does make noise, and I understand the injectors can tick while operating. If you hear a prominent tick near the firewall on the DS it could have cooked the #8 cylinder.
Compression / leakdown test is in order to make sure everything is healthy. Good time to swap plugs if necessary.
Do you know about the cooling mod?

I notice this happen with my mm. Heard chatter on startup once, run to get an oil change chatter stop, but still have ticking from heads. Only hear it if hood open, im I good to go or should I be worried

Wouldn't the car run *****y if a cylinder was blown?

Cooked indicates an issue due to overheating. Often a valve seat will drop, and it could be severe or just noisy for a time.
