Turn the switch off in the trunk.

You replaced the air bags in the back with springs?

Should have came with instructions on how to bypass the switch in the trunk. Check out arnott industries for a instruction file.

How is installing springs lowering the value? By this logic, installing an aftermarket Eaton supercharger would lower the value too

Adding a supercharger is an upgrade. Disabling the RAS to install coil springs is a downgrade.

This is interesting to me, as I would think that after a while and as our rear bags get older and possibly malfunction, I would think switching to springs/coils would be a natural process.

Maybe it's just me, but I would think the more natural process would be to fix the RAS and keep it functional.

Mary's car has over 180,000 miles and I've replaced the compressor and the ride-height sensor. If the air bags deteriorate, they're not expensive and they're easy to do...at that point it would have essentially an entire new system. Why install coils?

Pure semantics I suppose. The same reason folks install Eibach front lowering springs in their Marauders. Some folks hate the harsh ride and remove and some like the stance.

I'm not an expert on suspension or handling so I can't speak to the functionality of rear coils. I guess it depends on the vehicle's application and purpose.

The common wisdom in the world of suspension tuning is linear coils can provide better handling compared to a rising-rate air spring.

But the air springs are so convenient for general use that I still have kept mine, although I switched to the Grand Marquis softer rate. Sometimes I wonder how it would work with coils in the back, but it is just too much to give up right now. I tow small trailers, carry a family, heavy loads in the trunk, etc.

Edit: cornering is really good, even with the air springs. The updated parts helped a lot.
