no mine was not stolen BUT as a g-body owner I have experienced this the hard way (RIP my 88 Cutlass Supreme classic). Are these cars stolen easily? what preventative measures do people use to deter theft ?( I know it can't be stopped 100%) Im not familiar with Fords so I don't know if people use or if column locks are even available.

Suggestions?

I remember when they were still n production they had a high theft rate due to them being very easily stolen...

They consistently made top 10 lists every year until about 2011

But you have to understand the context behind these lists. "Most stolen" is a simple equation of total units produced divided by number of units stolen. It's misleading because the amount of Marauders stolen is only proportionate to the amount of Marauders produced (11k)

So yeah 3 or 4 Marauders bring stoled is going to put us on that list right next to the Suzuki Aerio

Marauders are not easily stolen, it's not like you can just crack the column and crank it up! In Detroit over a 7 year period there were only 2 Marauders stolen, and one was an insurance job!

Why would an insurance company steal a Marauder? :P

I always use a steering wheel Club on my Marauder.
I know that they can be defeated, but I want to make most thieves decide against breaking into the car to steal it.
A true 'Pro' will steal whatever they want.

Also, you can pull the Fuel pump fuse...even go as far as plugging in a blown dummy fuse.
Easy to do and hard to figure out if you are in a hurry to steal a car.

Car theives should just be executed... dude that stole my cutlass got a bunch of petty charges. He switched my vin, painted my car, swapped interior...

I guess illll just kill the ignition and hope some scumbag tow jockey doesnt take it. ( sorry if i offend anyone but i hate tow chasers, they are almost as vile to me as meter maids and umpires)

It doesn't matter what you do, if someone wants it bad enough they will use four Go Jacks and a rollback tow truck.

Insurance is your friend, I have my blue marauder insured for $40,000 agreed value. My black marauder just has regular insurance but I'm looking for something that will allow me to use it as a DD and still insure it for 15k.

I have always used kill switches (ground side) to help slow down someone trying to steal any of my cars. But Derek is correct, if they want it they will get it regardless.

I park mine as close to my apartment as possible. One time my wife used it while I was sleeping..The car starting woke me up in panic until I recalled she was using it. It will wake me up. At motels when I am on the road I request the first floor and make sure I back it up with the loud pipes to my door.

I have a kill switch and a 12 gage too... kinda.

No one is getting this car.

All I care about in this world is my wife, car and my guitar. In that order... and a very small number of people. Anything to protect what I love and who I love.

How did you do it? I want a hidden kill switch inside the car under the dash, easily reached but out of sight.

Best way i found to mount kills is to touch it without anyone seeing ur hands touch it.

If I recall it was stolen out of Dearborn, a surrounding suburb, but as previously mentioned a professional car thief will just take it with a tow truck/flatbed and be gone in 60 seconds!

You can interupt a number of ground circuits and have a small rocker switch pretty much anywhere. Under dash, in console, under seat, etc.

I use the plastic that's under the steering column. The one that has the floor light in it.

It took about a week to get used to knowing where the switch is.

I would rather hand my keys over and fill out insurance paperwork than take someone's life or loose mine in a struggle. Now if my baby is with me. The M&P gets put to work.

These cars are low profile to those that don't understand what they are. I think the chances of them being a "target" are slim to none. The only time I get a little nervous is if I drive my fox in a rough area. That car gets eyed like an SOB.

Wow, never thought I'd see them in the same sentence other than, "Yeah, had to use my Suzuki Aerio cause my Marauder blew a tire while I was doing a burnout to show up Doom."

Kill switch ain't going to stop ****. Think if you parked your Marauder in a no parking zone. You think a tow truck is going to try and start your car? Hellz no! They'll throw the jacks under your car and not give too craps if it's a rear wheel drive car. If they tow it the wrong way they'll just deny and say your car was broke already.

This is true good point, I've never been towed for parking but have heard of theifs stealing cars using wreckers, nobody even pays it any mind, especially in a city

Yup. I did part time work with a Repo company for a year. You think having a kill switch or a locked car stops someone that knows what their doing? Think again. Go-jacks are bomb diggity.

I will say this. The hardest vehicle to break in was a Scion xb (toaster) OMG that thing was a nightmare. It would re-auto lock itself. Such a pain.

Keep a Rottweiler in the car and give the car shell an electrical charge.

This^^^ Quoted for truth!

I imagine it couldn't be too hard to install one of the same ignition interlocks they use in cop cars. There's several out there.

I tend to think tinted windows helps too, even if it's just to keep prying eyes away.

The biggest saving grace is the common car thief may mistake it for a run of the mill panther and not think twice. As already stated, the pros will get what they want, and easily.

I installed an alarm and an ignition cutout and etched the numbers, but I figure if it gets stolen, it gets stolen. So I also installed a GPS/GPRS tracker (and the entire dash has to be removed to get access to it, so it'll be beaconing for a while). If it does get stolen, I can call the local jurisdiction and tell them "go get my car back for me - its over at this address."

Then, again, it could be "burglar protected (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmpBYcM06Sk)."

Tow trucks are the real threat. Real scummy ones in NYC. I wake up any time I hear a diesel engine on my street and some neighbors do the same. Of course it's usually just the garbage pickup.

A few people in queens put hydrollic bollards in the their personal driveways. This is the same thing they use as a first line of defense at the ny bullion bank. (where all the globes gold is supposedly stored)

Yeah good luck getting your tow truck though that without making a scene.
