View Full Version : Headlights Came On By Themselves.

I look out of the kitchen window to see my headlights on! Went out and the switch is in the off position. Marauder is parked. Flipped the switch to right & left a couple of times, then back to off. Headlights are off "for now".

It's been windy & rainy all day here, maybe water got somewhere? LCM? If it happens again, does anyone have the fuse # to pull? I'd hate for them to come on at night and drain my 1 week old battery!

Thanks.

It could be related to the "wacky wipers" issues. I went though the headlight problem years ago, Dealership fix it twice and in then I had a massive failure the took out the heat, A/C, radio, wipers, washers, and headlights. It was under warranty at the time.

Been fine since the third fix.

+1 on the wacky wipers. This happened to me - the printed circuit board in the wiper motor got wet/shorted out. The motor will have to be replaced. You can try unplugging the wiper motor harness to see if the lights go out to confirm.

Previous owner works with me. He got the wacky wiper syndrome fixed when he owned the car. I haven't seen my lights go on by themselves since yesterday. Seem to be working fine when I'm driving, parked, etc. except for that one instance.

We've had LOTS of rain last weekend. Maybe whatever got wet is drying up...hope. I'll keep an eye on it.

^^^ Check your drain slots under the hood, the become clogged from time from time.

The wacky wipers can affect the headlights. The MM autolamp selection has a built in safety function with the LCM and wipers. If switch is on the autolamp selection and the wipers have been on for more than 30 seconds it will trigger the headlights to come on.

The systems are tied in together via the LCM. A short on the wiper circuit board could send a false signal to the LCM which then could turn the headlights on.
