Hello all, this is my first post. I have a 2006 4.6 grand marquis with 65,000miles that is my beater with a heater. Joined because I wanted to research the mechanical differences between the marquis 4.6 and the Marauder 4.6. Unfortunately I found that those differences are quite vast thus minus a few bolt ons and visual mods it is not worthy of a Marauder cloning. The badges will come off and the car will get a flat black repaint as well as a pair of Marauder shoes (it is Arizona beige metallic). In the bolt on department I simply plan on a catalytic converter delete and a set of SLP loudmouths to replace the factory mufflers, cold air intake and if SCT makes a programmer for the marquis then a slightly bumped up tune. An obligatory small SVT badge on the front quarter panel to add another 10hp and it will be more reflective of my tastes. My Sunday driver and track car is a 2006 SRT8 Chrysler 300c with full bolt ons, an SRTSuperMax 575/568 lift cam (112 LSA cannot remember the duration) a Magnuson TVS2300 twin screw blower with an 8lb pulley and when I re-acquire (robbed it to finish a friends nitrous kit) the necessary line to run from the fuel rail to the nitrous management unit I will add a 75 pill to it as well. Used to run nitrous alone on a set of Mickey Thompson ET streets and pulled a 12.1 @116 at a track setting at 3600ft actual altitude and a 4300ft density altitude that particular day. On the blower alone I have bested a 12.4 @115 at the same track with major traction issues. It is infinitely more difficult to hookup on boost than nitrous because I would not push the button until I hit the 60 foot mark. For my dual power adder runs I will be shedding the currently run on Hoosier A6's for a set of slicks and skinnies in pursuit of my first 11 second pass. Also plan on heading to Texas Motorplex to run closer to sea level and hope for a further et reduction of roughly 3-4 tenths. Mid 11's at close to 125 is what I am shooting for. That is at a 4280lb race weight w me in the car.

I should also add that as a teenager (I graduated in 2002) I read an article in what I believe was Motor Trend mag describing Fords intention to do a limited release of the Marauder. Long before the introduction of the SRT8 or even the 5.5 supercharged E55 AMG Mercedes caught my eye it was the first modern version of what I call a "supersedan". A 4 door luxury car with the performance of a sportscar. I had an itch to scratch ever since that day. I was lucky enough to see one brand new on the lot at a Ford dealership on a visit to Tulsa Ok. in fall of 02'. As a punk kid walking in asking to possibly get a ride or if I dare ask (and I did) a test drive the salesman shrugged me off and replied "You cant even set in that thing unless you write a check for $30,000". Although I only drive the lowly cousin of the Marauder and am lucky enough to own a true supersedan from another manufacturer my love for 4 door speed was born in an article about very car that inspired this community and forum. Glad to be aboard! :bows:

P.S. Gimme a few and I will post some track video's of the SRT8 embarrassing a ZL1 Camaro and Dodge Viper.

Welcome. Nice SRT8, I always liked them.

But regarding what you said about the E55..these cars are extremely under-rated with a simple pulley and (overpriced) tune the car makes sick numbers, 600+. The transmissions are factory rated somewhere up to 770 ft/lb..

Welcome! I will own a 300 SRT8 someday. Beautiful cars (not the newer ones..) and great potential to start with! Certainly a hell of a lot more than Ford put in these obese cars...

Yessir - I think that they were listed at over $100,000 msrp brand new. It is a pig at like 4800lbs + but one very mean powerplant. AMG builds some beastly machines. Personally I prefer the C63 AMG (60,000 msrp) but a used E55 would find a home with me just the same. I really like the new CTS-V sedan as well. Nothing like a factory blower :burnout:
Also considering a new 392 SRT8 but I wont pull the trigger til the 6.1 pulls 11's

With heated seats and lifetime satellite radio as well as navigation and rear seat dvd - the SRT is rather luxurious. The new 300's are not the style I prefer but they are slowly growing on me. If I get another SRT8 it will be a Charger. I think they look pretty mean. The 4.6 is not a bad powerplant, keeping in mind the era it was made in. At that time the Z06 Corvette barely had 400 hp.

Thank you for the welcome everybody. Hopefully after a few mods the Grand Marquis will be worth some exhaust sound videos and pictures. The paint is peeling worse than a red head with a sunburn but that will be fixed soon.

Oh, and speaking of exhaust sound - will these JBA headers for a Cougar or Thunderbird work or is it a different bolt pattern??

Scratch that gentlemen this is what I am going with but putting the SLP loudmouth mufflers on instead.

I love it and I don't even use 1/2 of the power. I need to lower the boost, but not in a hurry. I really baby it when I drive it. Fun car!!

Of that I have no doubt. The D1SC is a killer steup. How much boost currently?

We don't know. It was going past 12 psi. I think it's pullied for 16. I have a larger pulley just haven't installed it

Yes! For my next car I was actually looking into either an AMG C63, an E92 M3 or Audi S5. I really want a 2 door now so that's where the M3 and S5 play, but the power on the V8 S5 is disappointing. The only real power adder for them is a supercharger at who knows how much.. So I would probably do the C63...maybe even an E60 M5 with the V10... if I can get over the honda-ish looks. :burnout:

Get an SCT then contact Mo's Speed Shop for the tune. It woke up the stock 4.6 in my Town Car. Get a Marauder air intake. Easy and just as good as any CAI.

My daily driver in Fresno is a 2013 Dodge Charger SRT8. With 470 hp stock and Brembo brakes, it is a world class super car. I got to drive the same model on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the Mopar SRT Race Track experience. The SRT is really a street legal race car.

When I am at my Las Vegas home I drive my 2003 MM with about 39,000 miles. Mostly all stock, except for a DR CAI and Baer front brake kit.

Despite a mere 300+ HP, the MM is still a wonderful and thrilling car to drive. It has been extremely reliable with 20+ MPG, except when I really stomp on the gas.

Very nice! There is a 13' SRT8 300c on "300cforums" that runs high tens at 128mph (at sealevel - he lives in Michigan) with a tune, slicks and nitrous. The SRT8 LOVES nitrous. If the SRT track experience had an event closer to me I would do it. Its sweet that simply owning one allows you to have that opportunity for free. My vin number has never been used in one so my chance is still open but IDK if I will ever get to use it.

For those not in the know - "The SRT Track Experience" is an event held by MOPAR that allows anyone who owns an SRT and can provide the vin number the opportunity to ride in (with a professional driver) and also drive every SRT model on a race track FOR FREE. Your vin can be used once and thereafter you have to pay but you get the idea. It is a part instructional school and a learning experience for anyone and most of all - a chance to haul ass in every current SRT model legally. Very cool!

My son and I did the SRT Race Track experience in Las Vegas last July.

It was truly an experience of a life time. Absolutely AWESOME!!! :bows::banana::bows:

My son has a 2012 SRT8 Challenger and I have a 2013 SRT8 Charger. Therefore we both participated for free. If you don't qualify for a fee ride, it costs about $700 per person. Still a great bargain.

We both still love driving the Marauder. :banana2:

When my son has to travel to the older and seedier sections of Las Vegas he takes the MM and leaves the Challenger at home. A lot of people mistake the MM for a police car. He is fine with that. :coolman:

I can imagine! Very nice - I would love to do the SRT experience given the opportunity. One day I suppose. Hope to have the car setup for the spray to run in the chitty high altitude conditions here by the next event on the 19th.
