View Full Version : Cut one coil

My brother in law cut a coil off his marauder and isn't impressed at all. Car was done and reassembled in the air. Could the fact of the wheels hanging not allow the control arms to settle and lower the car more vs it being on an alignment rack?

Does he have to cut another 1/2 coil off? The 1 coil cut literally did nothing for the car.
I run a 255/45 on the front

Can anyone provide the camber bolt kit info

You should torque the upper arm at ride height and give it a few days of driving to settle. All said and done you should see around 7/8" drop depending on spring condition.

Gotcha. His car was in the air like yours in the signature when it got torqued down. He mentioned he might need to sat it down on blocks it an alignment rack to loosen and re tighten to allow it to lower

I would definitely loosen and re-tighten those fasteners, all those bushings are supposed to be torqued at ride height so like you said an alignment rack is perfect for this.

I searched on my phone www.spcalignment.com is the place . I don't recall them mentioning marauder but it is the same for cv and grand marquis 2003 and up. I get hme Around midnight and will try to post direct link uess you find it before

Yep,
If you tightened everything up with the suspension 'at full droop' you have preloaded all the bushings.
The bushings are not happy campers in this condition.

Yup. It can be a pain but i try to lower the car down onto jack stands under the lower arms. Sometimes they are very questionable regarding safety..

Wtf are you guys talking about? The control arms do not need to be removed or loosened to swap the strut assembly

Wait a few days to settle, if you cut more than one coil you will not be happy. Mine settled almost a 1/4" more after almost a year.

I got the car readjusted today on the ground. It noticeably dropped a little by more. I'll be waiting for it to settle more. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

Is the price listed for a "set" or one side?

I had my alignment guy get them and install a couple years ago, but looking at the site..it is priced per side, so you'll need two.

Don't forget the rotary file/tool they sell to go w/kit - it's made for aluminum and it is needed.
