Years ago, I used a steel cloth and the tips looked great again!
I forgot what "grade/level" to get.
What do you use?
It's been years since I have cleaned these pipes. I would like to stick to a steel cloth unless you have a better/safer idea.
Open to any suggestion.
Thanks!

And careful with this stuff, rub it too much and it'll put a hole right through the tip!!!

Why does your can say 'chloroform' on the outside?

I wouldn't use Nevr-Dull on the wheels as they are clear-coated. I suppose you could use it on other chrome...

Never clean just the tip.

I agree. Get both hands on it and work the pipes in a horizontal movement front to back. You'll know when it's clean enough.

Btw, while we're on the subject of the tips, I have a question (and no, I'm not tryin to hijack the thread in any way :) ). Is it normal to have tiny holes spaced out along the length of the stock tips? The one I plan on buyin has a fair amount of nasty rust residue on the underside of the tips...upon inspection I found the little holes. Do they come from factory like this? I didn't get a shot of the holes, but I have a pic of the tips. Wanna make them shine again once I get it.

I think the stock tips did have one drain hole at the front, but I don't remember multiple ones?

Just one hole near the exhaust outlet. From the pic it appears the angle of the tip is off...probably aftermarket.

I believe they have one hole by the outlet and another one about halfway.

I stand corrected. Just checked it and there is another hole about 6" from the first one.

I have just one question......why did you not clean the tips while you were at the Louisville meet? Just saying with all the "helpers" and advise around could have been a 10 minute job? Oh well next time!

We went out and i used some nevrdull, but it wont be no 10min job:). I rubbed that pipe hard, and even gave him a rag to clean it off.

That is a stock tip. Most aftermarket tips do not have the rolled edge. Yes there are two holes, for drainage.

Thanks for the info, everyone. Nevr-Dull looks like good stuff for sure. I might look into somethin that's ok to apply to wheels too, though.

Here's a link to tip cleaning I posted awhile back.
Maybe it'll help too.

Yup. I did some work on it yesterday, but clearly, this will take at least an hour.
Right now, others things are more important than shiny exhaust tips.... but they do look better even after 5 minutes of work when I got home.
Thanks whitey!

Anyone apply metal polish using a RO polisher to the tips or are we talking all hand jobs here? I was going to take my RO to them this weekend. Thoughts?

Rub it harder.. I've seen nevrdull polish bare aluminum. Use bug and tar remover for any stubborn spots first, then get to work rubbin. They will look better than brand new.
