Ok guys,
This morning I climb in and head off to work. And one of the first things I notice is that I have no sound from my speakers. I do some quick fault isolation, and this is what I find.
I have sound from the sub-woofer.
No sound from the speakers.
The CD is spinning and playing, the radio's are recieving and the 6 disk cartredge is... cartradging.
It was working fine last night when I got home.
Is there a common fuse or junction point for the speaker power that is isolated from the sub?
And for those who will say warenty, remember, my dealership put the WAR in Warenty. :)

Mad.....I don't see anything in the wiring diagrams that show seperate fuses for the door speakers. The fuse box under the dash contains 3 fuses for the radio. F2.1 also supplies the CD changer in the trunk, F2.2 radio, F2.7 F2.13 all say radio. There is nothing in the speaker lines, as it appears they are driven directly from the radio. The sub is powered from a fuse in the battery junction box, F1.1.
Hope that helps some, not much, but all the wiring manual has.

Ok.
So the fault would probebly be behind the head unit...
great...
Thanks for the help. Just means I have to get myself armed to go see a dealer.

Phil: This could be one of two things: First there could be a loose nut behind the controls (having met you, most likely! ;) ) or, second, a loose connection.

I hope "glitch" doesn't translate to "short", Phil...

Might be worth your time to pull the head unit out and reseat all of the connections on the back.

I believe there is a "reset" command for the head unit. If it goes crazy again, I believe it is accessed by pressing the 3 & 6 buttons at the same time and holding them in for a few seconds. I don't remember for sure, but if you search the threads you'll find it. I posted it long ago when it was fresh on my mind.

This exact same thing happened to my system. Just cycling the car off and back on again reset the system and it fired back up. There must be some kind of cut off that protects the system in the case of an overload (I had it cranked up when it happened). It has not repeated. If you want to yank out the head unit, have fun. But I wouldn't bother unless it happens again.

Sounds like a software glitch... I think I recall RF Overlord posting the same situation last year sometime. Damned s/w controlled radios (you can get the s/w revisions from the test mode, accessed by holding 3 / 6 for a few seconds).

Do MMs have separate amps outside of the headunit? My Mach 460 system has two separate external amps. If an MM is the same, the amp for the speakers may be on its way out. It could either be a short/fault in the amp turn on lead or the amp itself may be bad (bad ground, corroded connectors, etc.). Just somethine else to think about.
