Took a few days of working on it a few hours a night. Box itself isn't totally done yet. I have matching interior carpet and a grill to install.

Its a Sundown 500w RMS DVC sub and Alpine MRV-M500 Mono 500x1 RMS.

Zero loss in trunk space and everything fits great. The box exterior is 11x11x17.5 built with 3/4" MDF. Screws are all counter sunk. I built it to take a beating.

It sounds great. I couldn't be happier.

Add me to the list. I've been thinking of who can I get to do this for me. I have two 10" Kenwood subs in a box that's heavy and not to great.

I wish I could hear that. How much was the setup? Are you happy with the bass?

Nice job. It looks clean!!

I've never heard of it (sundown).... After i sold my memphis mojo's I've been looking for a replacement. I was contemplating JL.. but if these are comparable and cheaper they are worth a look into

Any more pics of the box before install? I'd like to see more details on it

How is it secured? Is the hole from the OEM sub left open?

Looks familiar! I tucked my amp in there as well. Never been fond of seeing stereo equipment. Still wanting to conceal my box as well.

I have a friend who is CRAZY into car stereo stuff. He's the type that drops 4-6k like its nothing on things. He recommended these to me. Promised I would love it or he'd buy it from me. With confidence like that I couldn't argue in trying something new.

I'm very happy. I enjoy listening to everything from Eminem and good ole' 2pac to Josh Groban. Its clean not "boomy" and hits like I want it to. Its not the hum of the bass I like. Its hearing that foot pedal drum like I'm in the same room I enjoy. So I keep the lowpass cross over low. 120hz and under.

Alpine amp was $150 on ebay.
Extra $20 for the Remote gain controller (A must IMHO) Some songs you need a little more bass, others you need to turn it down.
Sub was $100 on Amazon
I spent about $50 on wood, screws, construction adhesive, speaker terminal, and carpet.
Already in my tool box was an 8 gauge monster cable kit I took from another car, so I used that.

To be honest, go overkill. You can always turn it down, but not always up. Having a sub with 150 watts might work fine. But when you aren't pushing things close to their limit you get a better sound/clarity.

The hole for the OEM sub in the rear deck is open but it doesn't really matter since the rear deck carpet goes over it. Currently its unsecured But its such a tight fit it can't really go anywhere. After its carpeted I'm going to do a single L bracket in the back and secure it to the rear seat back frame.

I love building custom boxes. I've built quite a few over the years.

What I built for my fox. Follows the interior lines perfect. Old pic though it has infinity subs now and the amp is hidden.

My box looks like yours (what I can see) and I built it tight enough to wedge it in. No fasteners here for years and stable as could be, not bad considering the way I drive.

Yup. Its in there pretty good. Once its carpeted I'm sure it won't move. The L bracket will be for insurance when I do things with the car like autocrossing. :D

Sealed or ported enclosure?

Sealed. Only way to fly for me.

The one thing I'm most excited about is I finally got the rear deck cover material cut and 03' grills installed. It looks great.

I think I'm going to have a guy make me one. Any more details on the build of the box? I listen to a variety of music so would sealed or ported be better. I like hard snappy bass. Not so crazy about vibrating long lasting bass

That is exactly why I went sealed. I like the hit, not the over whelming hum.

I posted the dimensions and wood type. All that is left from there is to build it.

Gotcha! Thanks for the info. My subs now are Kenwood KFC-XW1100DVC. I have two in a ported box. It's too bulky and too heavy. I'm wondering if I could put one in a box like you have?

Yeah, one of those 10's has WAY more power/punch capability than mine does and it sounds great. You could ditch the big box. The box I built is .84 CF. Looks like your sub displaces alot so you'd possibly want a slightly bigger box. I'm told poly fill is your friend for a box that is to small.

Awesome. I also have a Phosgate T5002 Amp. What amp do you suggest?

Specs wise that one looks okay to drive one sub. But the sub you have is built to take an insane amount of wattage. I usually always try to match RMS output of the amp to the sub. I don't know as much as I used to about car audio stuff. 2,4shofast (Jason) knows his **** far more than myself. I'm sure he'll take a look here.

This. Out of all the setups i've had, the combo I built for the Vic was my favorite, and it was turned down at the amp and some at the headunit. It is better to have and not need [want] than need [want] and not have.

I'll second this. Polyfill is great in any sub box IMO. My kickers in the F350 came with it from the factory, and I added it to the box I built for the Vic. I don't know if the Marauder has it or not, but if it doesn't I'll probably add it.

clean set up but 2 15's are the way to go.....enough base to give my kids brain damage! :banana2::banana2:

I do kinda miss my trunk space though.......Kicker + Hifonics =WINNING!!

for those wondering my box is so huge, kicker recommends a minimum of 3ft^3 per chamber for each sub and this box gives me about 3.125

Off-topic...having the amp covered with the trunk carpeting won't cause it to overheat when pushed? Don't you need air flow for cooling?

No, its a large open space back there and right behind it is a vent to the outside anyway.

With the sub broken in I finally cranked it up and pushed it pretty good. I'm really glad I didn't go any less. I wouldn't mind a "little" more but its really good. Again, I am used to the 2 12's in my fox. So considering that, this setup is pretty solid.

Compared to stock, well, stock SUCKED.
