I just purchased 410's so now I'm in the market for a tuner. I got the gears from my friend's work that deals with only mustang parts. If I bought an SCT SF4 tuner for a 03-04 mach 1, if would still be compatible with my car correct? The only difference would be in the preloaded tunes right? I checked the SCT website and the part numbers are the same.

You do not want a mustang canned tune to use in a marauder. You need to see Marty from Mo' s speed shop in the vendor section for a true marauder tune

I understand that. But as far as functions such as adjusting gear ratios etc., its essentially that same right? I plan on have it dyno tuned in the future.

I don't know if it is the same . You don't need a dyno tune unless you add a bunch of performance items

The hand held adjusts the tune file that is on the hand held. Its setup for a Mach 1. Not a Marauder.
You would need to buy the tuner then put a Marauder specific file on it.

I disagree. Get a dyno tune. Every Marauder was "born" different. Dyno tuning will bring out the best in you MM.

I understand that FBM. I was thinking due to cost wise a dyno tune tends to add $$

Price is the same... Buying a new handheld empty, buying one with tunes, don't usually matter. So why not just purchase one from Martyo for a Marauder and call it a day?

Once again, I was talking custom dyno tune cost more than a tune from Marty or lidio. Their tunes with sct tuner is $400 ish or so. A custom dyno tune with an sct has to cost more. Sct dyno time etc

I wasn't debating this. Because yes, a tuner costs what $379? Plus another $350/$500 for dyno? More power? Certainly. But not enough to justify on a mostly stock N/A car IMO.
I was simply stating that it makes zero sense to buy a tuner with Mach 1 tunes when the price is the same for a one with a Marauder tune.

So my concern was, if I buy the tuner for a mustang, will i still be able to upload a custom tune for my MM? I know the mustang preloaded tunes would be useless. I can get an SCT sf4 for $200 which is why I'm asking.

Yeah you can, but they will cost whatever the vendor wants. They can simply be emailed to you and you use the free SCT updater software (from their website) to upload to your handheld via a laptop.

Has something changed? Doesn't the tuner need to be setup for the correct ECU code still? FWIW, I originally had a chip, didn't like the setup. I took it to a member recommended dyno tuner. Picked up 50hp in the midrange, 35 overall. Tranny tune was also changed. It made a huge difference in my car. Yes it was costly, but worth it. It was like a different car afterwards.

Can I order a dozen at that price? That is way less than dealer cost.

Tune wise yes/no I've always been told basically 03 or 04 tune as the codes are just different versions of the same software within the same year. Tuner, no it could care less what code you have.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong?

Justbob: correct.
The sct tuner will work for any 4v 4.6l motor. The tune that you get to load into the car via the sct tuner needs to be the correct file for your pcm code.
Buy the sct tuner, make sure its unlocked, get a tune for your marauders pcm code...done.
